As we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not only that, but we have all seen both good cosmetic surgery and botched jobs. Whenever I see pics of good work by cosmetic surgeons, I generally see subtle changes. That is to say, there is an obvious improvement in a person's appearance, but the person still looks like himself/herself. And of course, there are the cases in which people have very obviously had work done and they look like freaks of nature. Is it possible for a person to have a series of cosmetic surgeries and look naturally beautiful afterwards?

Hot? yes. Sexy? yes. Beautiful?? not so much.. Beauty takes a lot more than surgery to achieve.

There should be 3 sets of numbers. Is -2.75 in the middle? if so, that is a lot of astigmatism and non-toric lenses won't fit right nor give you good vision. (Ex: -1.00 -2.75 x 180)

I'm not sure how much it costs, but you can get any mole removed that you want to. I had one that bothered me when I was younger and I went and got it removed and my insurance paid for it. If it is bothering you definitely get it removed! If you don't have insurance then call a dermatologist in your area and ask them how much it would be or how you would go about doing it. Good luck.

I have recently been to a family reunion, and right in front of about 15 people, one of my relatives asked me, 'So have you ever had cosmetic surgery before?' Suddenly, you could have heard a pin drop as everyone was waiting to hear how I would respond. I wanted to crawl into a hole. I just said ' well, that's kind of a rather personal question.' And then they said, 'You're rather defensive. So...if you didn't.....you would say no...so obviously you did. Gee!! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to answer a question like this without sounding offended or letting them assume that since you don't want to answer, you obviously did?

I recently bought a home. The inspector listed some cracks in siding to either repair or replace. When I questioned him about the severity, he did not feel there was major damage, just mostly cosmetic and that I could wait to address when houses needs restaining again in a few years. However, I would like to know if there is something i can use to fill in some of the little cracks, etc.

if the crack isnt causing the boards to fall off, then a stainable putty can be used. Another option may be to cut out the damaged section (preferrably at a stud) and retack a new piece up (this can be a pain, though, depending how tight the adjacent boards above it are.)
Reply:I have the same kind of siding - you can paint into the cracks if they are small enough - wider cracks you can put some good outdoor caulk into. I recommend something easily available like ALEX 25 year latex caulk - easy to apply and clean up with minimal crack shrinkage. Also see what you local Home improvement center recommends.

Reply:Get yourself a good exfoliater! And use it with a loofa sponge or something similar. Neutrogena makes a good one, as well as many others. I would go with a Neutrogena exfoliater face wash and that should do the trick. Just make sure you follow that with a facial moisturizer by then as well. It will take a couple weeks to see results but I swear it works.
Reply:I had a similar reaction to simple baby oil. I think the heaviness of the old blocked every pore of my skin. I would suggest a lighter body lotion or something that is more water based than oil based.

If this guy is a properly-trained, eithical surgeon, then he'll want to have a consultation with you to make sure that you're skin is suitable for the surgery. For example, fair skin apparently scars quite badly (apparently) so if this is a medically proven fact, and you have fair skin then he will warn against you undergoing the operation. But if he does not arrange a consultation with you and is content to just talk to you on the day of the operation, then don't let him near you! That is bad practice.

I own a small bodycare company and have a formula that I would like to re-create. I have consulted with several cosmetic chemists already but they want thousands of dollars to take on the project-which will take them no more than a couple of hours to do. I don't need to own the formula, but I would like to be given the formula and formulating instructions so that my little company can create this all natural product at my facility (house). Reply:Hello, you don't mentioned the cosmetic you want to formulate, there are many types in forms and effects, is it a lotion , cream or ointment ..etc , any kind needs its formula, i hope that you succeeded in uer job.
Reply:I believe that you are underestimating the work required to do this. If the ingredients are totally unknown, my initial estimate would be two people for six weeks, PLUS testing. That is not cheap. Sometime you get lucky, but rarely. Several tests that may be needed cost thousands each. The process is called deformulation. There are independent labs that do this work.

Based on your addition, get those chemists you talked to the job. You aren't going to get it done cheaper. I don't believe they can do it. Get the ingredients yourself and try to find the correct mix yourself. Being a chemist in that case is not needed.

Why Won't My Cosmetic Tattoo Won't Stick??

I first had cosmetic tattooing of my eyebrows done about 3 weeks ago. I was careful to let the tattoo heal and used the Tattoo Lube the technician gave me. Within 4 days, once the tattoo was healed, the scab fell off...and so did my eyebrows. NONE of the color stuck.

I recently went in and had it redone at a reduced price and now that it's healing I'm getting cracks in the scab (like the last time as it healed) and it looks like it's going to do the same thing again...

Why won't this tattoo stick? Should I have it done without the anestetic? I've had 9 other tattoos and never had anything like this happen to any of them. My skin is very oily...could this be the culprit?

Why Won't My Cosmetic Tattoo Won't Stick??
There could be a number of reasons for this.

First off, this is a tattoo, just like any other tattoo. It should heal like any other tattoo.

Just a few questions for you. Is any ink sticking? Is it all scabbing and falling out? Does the skin feel tight? Is there any blistering? Excessive swelling? Is this a reputable place?

To me it sounds like what is probably going on is your tattoo is getting to dry, and scabbing. Scabbing is not healthy for your tattoo, neither is excessive cracking. Your tattoo should heal more like a minor sun burn with some very light PEELING.

After getting your tattoo done, about an hour and a half later you should wash your tattoo with warm water, and anti-bacterial soap. Make sure to wash it lightly, until your tattoo no longer feels slimey, then pat dry. Do this 2-3 times a day.

Apply a thin layer of ointment to your tattoo 2-3 times a day for about a week. Once it begins to feel tight, and the swelling has gone down, apply an unscented lotion (such as Lurbiderm), several times a day. Try not to allow your tattoo to dry out. Monitor it closely for the next week. After that apply lotion once or twice daily for another week or two.

This problem sounds like a combination of issues. Poor aftercare, perhaps your skin is rejecting the ink, perhaps an artist who isn't going deep enough (inexperienced or not confident), and perhaps a complication with the anestetic. It may be interferring with the ink. I always suggest not using anestetic, just take an ibuprofen!

Reply:As far as variety goes, London is excellent. Jemma Kidd makeup school and Greaspaint are located there, to name a few. you would definitely have a variety of facilities to choose from

But ultimately, this is your goal, right? So you should really be doing some research! Nobody knows what's best for you better than you do! I'm not an expert, but I'd also expect you to have good luck in a big city like New York. In a fashion capital, makeup artists and cosmetologists are probably in high demand.

No way! That's not true.

I do know you are able to get reduced cost plastic surgery at Ft Sam Houston, TX. That is where they train military doctors. I don't think I would want "trainees" operating on ANY part of me though.

Reply:No, neither the military nor the majority of other private insurance companies will cover these type of cosmetic or reconstructive surgeries as they are not deemed as "necessities". Military insurance will only cover these type of surgery if they are related to repairing damage resulting from some type of injury.

Reply:if you fall under tricare and you are horribly disfigured in an accident or while deployed then yes they will pay for reconstructive surgery. this is not something that normal health insurance would cover under most circumstances.

my advice, dont risk pissing off the underwriters by making ingenuous claims when one day you may need them to approve something that may be on the line.
Reply:My husband has heard that too, he is also in the military but I think there are limitations. You'd need to talk to a doctor at a MTF. From what I understand the docs do this to train and keep up their skills so that they can treat wounded soldiers/sailors in the time of battle or other serious injury/disfigurment. Also call tricare. I'm done having children and want a tummy tuck to repair what my c-section did to me.
Reply:they will pay for corrective eye surgery, breast REDUCTIONS if you have back trouble, major deformities if you were born with them or caused by an accident...and when i say a deformity your flabby belly and flat chest dont count, its only for things like bowed legs or something like that.
Reply:OK, here is the real truth... the military (the Air Force anyway) will give you free cosmetic surgery. However, I don't know if spouses/dependants qualify for this or if it is only for active duty. That is something you will have to look into.

Any and all procedures are available but there are a few catches...

1) There must be a surgeon available to do your procedure (basically, any military doctor who is licensed to practice cosmetic surgery HAS to do a certain number of procedures in order to keep his certification; therefore the military offers them to members who want/need them... those who need them have priority over those who don't. Other than that, there are no limitations as to what kind of procedure you have done).

2) You have to get on a waiting list. Last I heard at Lackland AFB, the waiting list for breast augmentation was over a year long.

3) You MAY have to pay something... for example, you have to put up the cash for the implants. It's like paying for parts but the labor is free.

4) You have to trust that they will do a good job because there is no such thing as malpractice with military surgeons...

Again, not sure about dependants though. Good luck!! :)

Reconstructive is to fix damage from severe accident that causes disfigurement. The military will cover reconstructive if it is deemed necessary for the betterment of the person receiving it. Cosmetic surgery generally isn't paid by the military unless it is medical necessity, breast reduction. I hope this helps answer the question.
Reply:generally speaking, no. very few treatment facilites offer elective surgery options to dependants, and only the actual procedure would be free, you would have to pay for the implants and the costs associated with your stay. additionally, there is a huge waiting list because it is strictly on a Space A basis to keep the surgeons in practice. Because the application process for medical school is very competitive, most applicants have a 4 year bachelor’s degree—the minimum requirement of some schools—and some even have a master’s degree. It is not uncommon for people to apply to medical school 2 years in a row before being accepted. Applicants may also have to write the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), depending on the school they are applying to.

Generally, those applicants with the highest marks have the greatest chance of being accepted. However, medical schools also consider things like character, leadership qualities, and extracurricular activities.

Medical school provides a general medical education, and usually take 4 years to complete. Once you have completed your Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) you must then complete a period of “residency” training, during which you will receive specific training in general surgery and then plastic surgery. Residencies take place in hospitals or other medical settings. For plastic surgeons, the residency period usually takes at least 5 years to complete.

All MDs must pass certification exams administered by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. They must also be licensed by the appropriate province or territory.

I could care less what a person does with his/her body, if it makes his/her feel better about themselves. I am all for cosmetic surgery, ( I am saving to get cosmetic surgery myself) I was just wondering if anyone has ever been critizied for their decision and how did you react?

I'm planning on doing it soon and have told only a few people. Most everyone has been very supportive because they know what it means to me. I think cosmetic surgery can be a very positive thing when done for the right reasons. It can have a very positive impact on someone's life. Those that say not to have it and give the money to someone in need are not being realistic. Maybe next time they go shopping or buy car or buy anything for themselves they should save that money and give it to someone in need. I think it's an extreme way of thinking. And it's not American, cosmetic surgery happens everywhere. I've read blogs while doing my research about rhinoplasty and it's not just Americans doing it, it's ridiculous to even think that. Sorry for the rant but one thing that is wrong in society today is that people judge too quickly and harshly. It's easy for someone to say do this or don't do that because it's not their life or their situation. Plastic surgery is not just about superficial changes, it can be a tremendous improvement of life for a lot of people. Inside and out.

I don't think you got stuck with this side. You can go with the emotional side of things and get everyone to side with you. You could start with the people unhappy with their looks and go on then hit your audience with the people who were disfigured and need "reconstructive surgery" to look like they used to.

I would go with the reconstruction angle at the end as a way to say, "if you didn't agree before you would be heartless to not agree now" or "what if you were in a bad accident that scarred you up?"

If you get people emotional about what could happen to them they'll probably forget that the other points were slightly superficial.

Would an operation that made a person skinnier be considered cosmetic surgery? Gastric bypass surgery makes people lose weight and I think it's covered by insurance plans. Why should people get a second chance at being thin when some people never did a thing wrong to be considered unattractive by society?

I've had 11 crowns for restorative purposes but the cosmetic effect is the same as having them done for THAT purpose, and it was about one thousand per crown. A friend is having veneers and crowns specifically for cosmetic purposes only, and he also told me one thousand each. That's a pretty good average for cosmetic work per tooth.

Occasionally at times I had dental insurance they'd cover up to a certain amount per year (most plans cap it at one thousand, others two.) Of course, that includes all the other dental work included over the course of a year, not just crowns. Without insurance I just paid privately. But I must warn you, if you are having it done specifically for cosmetic purposes, they will NOT cover the procedures at all. Mine had to have series of x-rays, photos and dentist's reports for the teeth in question just to prove that my work was necessary, not cosmetic. In fact I had coverage for one tooth declined for that very reason. As for a loan, ask the dentist office. I'm sure they have financing steps they will help you through.

ok...this may seem like a really daft question, but ive scoured the internet for ages now looking for the answer to this question and never seem to find the right answers...

i have really skinny arms and legs, and no matter how much/what i eat or go to the gym, they dnt seem to be getting any bigger. ive been really conscious of my arms and legs since i was younger and its doing my head in :^(!!!

Steroids are NOT cool....can we say "roid rage"? Is it bad to have cosmetic? I mean most people in in the world had or have cosmetic surgery done to their face, such as double eyelids, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, and etc. I just don’t understand why people want to get plastic surgery to be “beautiful.”

I don’t know why my Asian friends want to get double eyelids surgery done, because they think having bigger eyes is consider beautiful. I myself am Asian, and I don’t want to get plastic surgery, because I personally like almond eyes, they’re beautiful; it makes them look mysterious and sophisticate.

Anyway, cosmetic surgeries are widely popular in Korea, Japan, and China. I don’t know what they are trying to change their looks to appear more westernize, which I think promoting the public to get plastic surgery. I mean, why get plastic surgery to make you look “beautiful, when you’re already beautiful? Also, getting plastic surgery done with double eyelids, rhinoplasty will not make your future kids have the double eyes, and a narrow nose.

Reply:"Best" is very subjective. Do you mean the most skilled, best personality, longest-lasting results....or do you just want inexpensive?

Cosmetic Dentistry is not a recognized specialty by the ADA, so almost any dentist can call themselves "Cosmetic" in the ads.

Call a few dentists and go in for a consultation. Ask for Before and After photos of their cases (not pictures they bought from a marketing company) and talk to the staff.

Also, it would be smart to explore alternatives to veneers to close that gap. Invisalign may work for you without disturbing tooth enamal which would likely be necessary to place veneers.

This treatment should last a very long time - maybe your lifetime. Don't go cheap.

Middle East especially Persian girls! Trust me, I have never seen women wear so much makeup here in USA! They wear full on makeup (tons of it) just to go to the grocery store in the middle of the day.

We may use a lot of products here USA (I do) but we don't pile it up like a layered cake. It's usually done at night time for going out and again usually it's done naturally or tastefully.

It never works out to cover pigment darker than your skin's. I'm black and my birthmark is lighter than my skin tone. It depends on the birthmark. If it is a raised birthmark (closer the the mole family) then absolutley not. If it is a flat red or brown birthmark, you can, but the final decision lays with your tattoo artist. Reply:I think it's a personal choice to have this surgery, and people shouldn't judge you for it. My mom had a huge scar from having three emergency c-sections, so she had a tummy tuck (and some lipo while she was at it) to fix it. I think it was a great move for her! I know that there are people who think we should just be happy with what God gave us, but I bet they have died their hair before and/or wear makeup! It's the same idea!

There are some who have some form of deformity (it feels like that to them) - eg someone with a huge nose which dominates their face, or someon who doesn't even fit into a AAA cup bra (thatd be me ladies and gentlemen). It's all good to throw stones but try lving the lfie of someone who has never had breasts, has never experienced them, and feels like less of a woman when she puts her measurements into a bra size calculator and gets "error". Or step into the shoes of someone whose face seems to revolve around their nose. Or someone whose ears stick out that it is actually the first thing that strangers notice.

So stop calling it shallow, or saying that we need therapy. If it was a C cup going to a double D, fine. If I said I wanted a nose job (I dont like my nose LOL) - that would be vanity YES!!! Reply:I work for a Plastic Surgeon and I a concur with what Nurse Susan says. There are people who do overuse plastic surgery, but most people have plastic surgery for very real issues. You might be surprised how many women have asymmetrical or malformed breasts, and I have seen many peoples' self esteem improve greatly after getting a nose job.

Gum recession is a medical issue and not a cosmetic one. The gums and bone comprise the socket which holds your tooth in place. If these recede, your teeth become loose, and sensitive. Your insurance shouldn't give you any problems with claiming any necessary procedures performed for your gums as long as you have periodontal coverage.

More importantly, if you have been told by the dentist that you have brushed them away, have you modified your brushing technique?

Failure to do so puts the teeth at a significantly higher risk for loosening and loss which only leads to further health risks. Have your dentist do a preauthorization with your insurance company prior to performing any procedures. it will usually say on the package in tiny print, usually if it doesn't say "oil free" or "water-based", then obviously, it is not. Another way to tell if makeup is oil free is if it has an "active ingredient" of salicilic acid (usually about 0.6%). If you really want to be sure...read the ingredients, or just stick with the ones that are actually oil free, like Rimmel cool makeup, Maybelline pure makeup or almay for oily/acne prone skin.

Our bodies are not our personal property which we may treat as we please. Our bodies are on loan to us from G‑d for the duration of our lives, to enable us to fulfill our mission in this world -- a mission which requires having a physical body. (A soul alone cannot don tefillin or light Shabbat candles.) As our bodies are merely on loan, we are not entitled to mutilate them in any way. Thus 'wounding oneself' by undergoing surgery is problematic.

Therefore, surgery which is deemed necessary in the course of the treatment of an illness or injury is allowed -- and actually required. An additional consideration raised by the poskim in regard to purely cosmetic surgery is the fact that every surgery, especially one which requires general anesthesia, presents a certain element of risk and a chance of complications. As aforementioned, we are enjoined to guard our health and avoid unnecessary risks to our wellbeing.

In 1964, a question was posed to several leading poskim regarding a woman who felt that benefiting from plastic surgery would enhance her prospects of finding a suitable husband.

Rabbi Jacob Breisch (author of the Chelkat Yaakov Responsa) maintained that the prohibition of wounding oneself does not apply in a situation where the pain is intended to alleviate another -- more excruciating -- pain. He brought proof from various places in the Talmud that the psychological pain associated with having abnormal features overrides the pain associated with the surgery. He therefore permitted this surgery when done to alleviate psychological distress. A similar explanation was offered by Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, the most recognized posek of the past generation (1895-1986), who explained that the Torah only prohibits self-affliction when done with malice, or in a degrading manner.

Rabbi Breisch also addressed the risks associated with surgery, and ruled that with the advancement of experience and expertise in this area of medicine, the risks involved have been greatly minimized, and therefore undergoing such a surgery cannot be considered a reasonable risk to life.

However, Rabbi Eliezer Waldenberg (1916-2006, author of Tzitz Eliezer responsa) disagreed with these opinions, and ruled unequivocally that cosmetic surgery is forbidden. In his opinion, the Torah statement 'he shall provide for his cure,' from which we learn that one may and must seek medical help, does not apply to ailments that are purely cosmetic.

He also adds a philosophical reasoning. One must believe that G‑d, the greatest artisan of all, formed him or her in the most fitting way, and one must not change this form. Changing one's figure for beauty concerns alone is tantamount to insulting the G‑d's handiwork!

Many authorities have reached some sort of compromise -- ruling that cosmetic surgery is permitted in order to remove an abnormality, if there is a grave psychological need, or to facilitate a happy marriage or decent livelihood; but prohibited if it is being done for beauty or convenience alone.

Another issue raised is the Torah prohibition precluding a man from indulging in feminine activity.2 Some view cosmetic enhancement as such; and therefore consider this another reason to prohibit a man from such a surgery. This, however, would also only apply to a surgery done solely for aesthetic purposes.3

As this is a very subjective issue, in which people can easily delude themselves about the degree of pain and abnormality associated with their looks, it is of utmost importance to personally discuss this with your rabbi for an objective assessment as to the degree of need and convenience, which varies with each case."

You don't need to have any special education for a job at a counter. Most locations will make sure you are over the age of 18. M.A.C. is a bit more specific. They will more then likely need you to have some make-up application experience. I would suggest getting a job at another counter like Clinique, Clarins Prescriptives first. This will build your resume and give you the sales experience and application skills that most M.A.C. counters require. The interview process for M.A.C. is a bit extensive. Usually 4 or 5 interviews with you and a model and lots of make up application required. I would also suggest putting make-up on friends, family members anyone who will sit still. Then take some pictures and print them out. Place them in a book and bring them with you to interviews. Try Macy*s or a department store in your area. But again most cosmetics departments hire after the age of 18. As for the pay rates. That varies by counter, dept. store. etc. You can make a great living if you keep it up and get a job on TV or on a concert tour with a major artist. It's a great time and you get to be creative everyday.

Has anyone here had the mid-face short scar face lift?

I am curious as to how long the healing process is as this is a fairly new procedure.

I also want to hear about the experience itself (if you have had one) OR any other experiences (positive or negitive) with cosmetic surgery.

Who else wants cosmetic surgery?

Ever since I was 11, I've wanted surgery to narrow my nose. Don't get me wrong, a lot of people think I'm "very pretty" but i think they are lying or just being nice. Who knows, right?

Anyway, I want rhinoplasty..........

My boyfriend says he'd rather not have me do anything, but I've wanted it since I was little.

Is it normal for females to want cosmetic surgery? (I am 20 btw.)

Even my stepdad said I was "crazy" for wanting to change something about me and he told my mom that a lot of people would want to look like me. But I think he's a liar or being too nice.

I want to narrow my nose.

Reply:If it means that much to you, then you should do it. You are old enough now to know what you want. No one else can tell you that you shouldn't when you know how much it has bothered YOU! If it will make you happen, then go for it! Life is too short to have regrets.

Reply:You're an adult, it's your nose, if you want it changed, then change it! But remember, if you think it will change your life and everything will be perfect with a narrower nose, then don't do. Make an appointment with a plastic surgeon, they will be able to show you what you would look like and let you know if it's a good option for you. But if you can afford it and you really want it, and weigh the pros and cons and still want to do it, then by all means do it! It's your face!

I think I'll start with a little Botox when I hit 35, in three and a half years. My husband tells me it's nuts to put poison in my face, but it's my face, and a little preventative Botox is a good thing!
Reply:Well, maybe a picture of you would be most helpful. If you want to narrow your nose, then it is a personal decision.

If you look in the mirror and that is all "you" see is your nose, and it becomes a distraction, then maybe you should consult a cosmetic or plastic surgeon.

Consultations are usually free, and they (comestic surgeon) may be a better judge because the don't spare your feelings what so ever.

They take pictures of you at all angles and then you could make your decision knowing all the risks involved with surgery.

You said "a lot" of ppl think you're very pretty, including your stepdad, but you're convinced they are all lying or being nice. I think maybe you should take them at their word. They are being honestly complimentary. Of course, even if you think they are all being honest and really think you are pretty, you could still hate your own nose. Hmm. I guess my hope for you would be that you could accept your God-given attributes. There are some ppl who very much need rhinoplasty, such as in cases of cleft palate or other birth defects, but you're not in that category. If a lot of ppl think you're "very pretty" maybe you could find a way to agree with them.

Because any cosmetic surgeon worth their salt will admit there are things they cannot 'fix' and so a good Beauty Therapist is an integral part of the team. Besides it isn't always necessary to go 'under the knife' they do try to help in other ways too, it's usually about self esteem and good make-up, well applied can solve the problem sometimes instead of having to use a knife.

I was in a bad accident 5 years ago, and part of my injuries was a badly disfigured, indented patch on my leg which had a skin graft. The indent is very pronounced, and it looks like i have a section of my leg missing on one side. I also have severe nerve damage to this area.

Is it possible to have cosmetic surgery to "fill in" this very large indent? If so, is it done on the NHS or do you have to go private?

In April 2006 I bought a 95 Hyundai Accent (2dr) and I have been steadily paying for replacement door handles (inside and out) window tracks and the control panel where the heat/air/radio controls are. We go to the junk yards to obtain these parts and in most cases they are already gone, which tells me that it is a typical, on-going problem with Hyundai.

So my question is: Is this so with the newer models of Hyundai? I love my car but it's a cosmetic nightmare and it's been costing me a slow fortune. I really want a newer Hyundai Accent but I'm not sure it's worth it.

Hyundai is a much better brand than it was 12 years ago. Beginningin 2001, they changed their whole business model and strategy in the US.

In 2001, Hyundai started offering their current 5 year, 60K miles bumper to bumper warranties and their 100K powertrain warranties. They also redesigned almost their entire line of cars.

I would say that getting a new Hyundai today would be a good choice. The Elantra is a very good value when compared to other brands in its class. You get so much more on the Elantra than the Accent and it isn't that much more expensive.

Overall, don't consider another Hyundai prior to 2001. Anything after 2001 is worth a look.
Reply:I had a 1997 Accent, and the door handles were a little weak, but I never broke one.

Hyundai's quality has been constantly improving since the late 1990's, to where they've been winning awards now. So whatever was wrong 12 years ago has probably been improved upon or fixed since then. Plus the 1995 was a first-year Accent, and new models often have problems that get corrected in subsequent years.
Reply:Actually they started their improvements in 1997 with a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. I bought one that year and it's still in the family and still running good with no major repairs.

Reply:I myself am looking at purchasing a used late model Hyundai. In all my research, one thing has become clear, since 2002 Hyundai has become know as a reliable car. Even matching or beating Hondas reliability ratings. I even asked my mechanic about them today and without any prompt from me other than to ask if they see many Hyundais, he told me that they have become really reliable cars.

Elantras are very nice, but it is a very popular model and can be difficult to find used. Accents and Sonatas are easier. Depending on what you can afford, try to find something 2002 or later possibly from a private seller. Hyundai 4 door sedan models are running between $9,000-11,000 for an '05 or '06.

Since this is not possible, many people's self-esteems fall lower and lower and they become addicted to the temporary satisfaction that surgery and eating disorders bring. I wouldn't be surprised if some risk their life savings on it because they are so emotionally dependent on surgery that they feel as if they need it to survive. They don't realize that instead of trying to change themselves so that society can accept them, they should be the ones to take charge of their lives and make rules so that society can follow their example. People need to be proud of who they are and stop reinforcing the media's negative example. People with "strong noses" or small lips should love and cherish them as they do themselves. Trying to be like other people and changing what they were born with would not be helping the situation if what they lack is much deeper inside.

Addition: Makeover shows are OK b/c they just fix up the person so that they can learn how to take better of themselves in the future. It is great for people to try to present themselves well and try to look good, but I think that they should not take it to extremes and change things that do not need to be changed.

Reply:Yes,definately.I have awful bags under my eyes and people are always commenting that i look tired even though i am not.Make up does not disguise them and i feel i look older than i am.I have decided to have them removed and am looking into the cost of procedures abroad as they are cheaper. I am undrestandably apprehensive about the procedure but only because i have expectations that it must be successful or my confidence will further suffer.I don't believe this is vanity but more a feeling of insecurities.We live in a society that does tend to focus on image but i work hard and will not be relying on anyone else to fund this for me so i feel I can justify the expense.I would go into debt for it as most people go into debt for major purchases.My op would cost between £1500 and £3000 which i don't consider excessive for the right result.Now if i could get on one of those makeover programmes i would be ecstatic but i believe they have long waiting lists and time is not on my side.

You can have as many nips and tucks you want, but if you are a boring person it's not going to change that. There again, if you are unhappy with your looks and it is making you ill, maybe there is a case...

Reply:No, I would NOT make debt to have it done. Should I have funds I most certainly will have three things done. One - my boobs. I am 5ft 1inch and am only a 30-32, but have broad shoulders. I look hidious without wearing a bra resulting in not being able to wear nice sleeveless or tank tops. two I would have my teeth done. I have false teeth and the chin tends to disappear after a few years. Three - I HATE it when I want to grow my hair and it looks so untidy and stringy. So I would do the hair extensions until such time as my own hair is long.

Reply:if you play sports or sweat at all like at gym, i wouldnt wear makeup there, it will run, at least, most kinds will....

you can get a 'foundation', try the cake kind (it comes in a compact with a mirror and an applicator sponge), and dab it onto your 'spot'. once that's complete, they make a clear powder, just to give it a matte finish, like your skin. if you don't use the powder, it might look shiny, and look like you're wearing makeup.

I understand where you're coming from, i have a large bruise looking birthmark too, right in the middle of my forhead,,, bothered me for sooooooooooooo long..... but i've finally gotten used to it, and it's part of me now, i wouldn't get rid of it for anything.... :) hope you can find what you're looking for.

As for the condition of the skin under your eyes...a 100% raw vegan diet is fabulous for your skin and every other bit of your body. You could try it, if you have the will to stick to it.

Look tired and older? Stress makes you look tired and older than your actual age. Keep your stress under control. Watch what you are thinking (outlook, attitude, etc.). A healthy dose of optimism can help. Right now, don't think too much about your current trouble. It only adds more pressure on you.

The bags under your eyes may be due to lack of sleep. Get plenty of sleep :) ... I am not an expert when it comes to make-ups but I read (somewhere) that concealers can help hide your eye bags for a while...

I have information that might cheer you up: glycolic acid cream (5%). Glycolic acid is used to improve skin's appearance and skin texture (i.e. reduces wrinkles, scarring). It also helps to make your skin look healthier, smoother, and brighter-looking. My dermatologist recommended this one to my sister and the result is gradually showing (and doesn't look like a hag anymore).

Another one: instead of investing your time and money on cosmetic surgery(ies), it's better to spend it on spas. My officemate usually go there to relieve stress and it works.

Reply:first you should really talk to a therapist or a really cool sound-minded person about the suicide stuff and other anxieties. the bags under your eyes can more than likely be fluid retention n poor drainage. i often got them when over tired or not eating right. once i started eliminating icky things from my diet.. junk food, processed foods, etc and started a holistic diet.. they went away. try diet elimination n see how that works, but don't do the surgery.... u can really mess yourself up. what if the doc made one eye look bigger than the other?? what is he gonna say... ooops? also try getting a facial once n a while to feel refreshed n get a nice facial massage to get things flowing. pamper yourself. girl... you'll be fine. don't be so hard on yourself and look in the mirror and tell yourself how awesome u are and get out that house! :)

You are right about the risks. Like every thing in life you have to weigh these up and see what to you seems worth the risks involved. The problem with surgery is that there are an awful lot or bad surgeons and you do not know what you are getting. I had ny nose done and the surgeon left an open wound in my nostril that wepted and bleed. Then though, I had a diferent surgeon who corrected that and operated on my one breast which was different to the other one and I had fantasic results and I am so gretaful to him as it made that part of my life so much better. Even given that, I still would say don't let me or anyone else decide for you, because I had both experiences so bad can happen. All others can do is tell of their experiences and those are not going to garentee yours either way.

i'm doing research on the differences between cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery - and the stereotypes that accompany the comparison.

i came to the conclusion that the problem doesnt lie with the surgeries themselves but the reasons for the procedures...

but i'm not sure what the reasons are...is it society? any thoughts?

I would have to say that if you look at the big picture...its society. Cosmetic surgery, to me, is for people who WANT to look different and reconstructive is for those who WANT and/or NEED to look different. I say "want" and "need" for reconstructive because if a woman has a mastectomy (removal of the breast) she can have reconstructive surgery afterwards to lessen the scar or flatten the tissue OR she can opt to not having it at all. I'm not going to go into the reasons why people have cosmetic or reconstructive surgery becasue there are so many, but cosmetic is getting lots of business because of society and its ****** up norms.

well I have used both, and really I didn't see a difference in my skin.

If your using products to help with blemishes then you want something with benzoyl peroxide in it. I have used oxy, and like it. I also have used more expensive regimens like Kara Vita and used their 3 step with has a toner too and really liked that. I have 2 friends that use Proactiv and swear by it. I was just in Mexico and looked in to getting some Retin-A which you can only get by prescription here in the states, but it is cheaper to just go to the doctor and get it.

Look to see what the ingredients are in the AVON products you are looking at and compare then to something you have used before that worked. AVON has been around for a long time, they are a good company.

Seriously, get a job and start saving now. Since mom is paying all bills deposit all checks for about a year and some months and you should have no problem at all saving. Wvery time you get to a thousand dollars of earning buy a money order and prepay doc. Put money into a CD that will yield possibly high returns, and will not allow you to take your money without penalty. Is it anything that you are having done qualify for correcting. I fought my insurance comapany for breast surgery and got it although it was cosmetic, it was paid for after a year of complaining. Third, do you or mom have a nice credit score? Finance it and make payments now! I am a single parent and I use school loans and refunds for major purchases, I do not recommend this if you are not planning on investing in an education though. Another thing to consider my dear, any surgery that is purely cosmetic can go wrong so you should consider saving more if you need to fix the problem or no happy with results . Good luck!

Is there something about yourself physically that you don't like but you won't have surgery to have it and why is that? I'm just very curious because our society seems so obsessed with "plastic surgery". I mean, we even have shows like Nip Tuck and Dr.90210 that are just about it. I have had breast augmentation and a nose job and chin implant. I originally had my breasts done 'cause they were a cup size different and I wanted them even but I ended up enlarging them both to a "D". They were like a "B" and a "C" before that. I've had to have 2 additional surgeries from complications. I'm still not satisfied with them. I would like them to be larger and still more symmetrical and I wish I had them done thru the bellybutton. I had them done underneath the breasts and there's scarring. I had my nose done because of a bump and after 2 nose jobs, I still don't like it!

I had a lift/implants and I couldn't be happier with the results. I recently lost 30 pounds and it made my breasts really saggy. I felt really self concious about them, so I decided to get them "fixed". I feel like the surgery helped boost my confidence even though most people didn't notice. The trick is finding a good doctor. The best way to do that is ask around, my doc was referred to me by some trusted friends. I have a friend that went to the doctor with the "cheaper" prices and was very unhappy with her results. As far as my surgery I would definantly do it again :)

It is a long process:

First, you need to complete undergraduate. Your major doesn't matter, but you do need to take the prerequisite courses for medical school. Your advisor can assure you get the courses you need.

Next, you need to take the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test). This may be during your Junior year, so be sure to schedule it to have scores back before medical school applications.

You will then appy and interview for medical school--this is competitive, so you'll want good grades, test scores, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation. Also, volunteering or working at a hospital can help.

Upon enrollment in medical school, you typically spend 4 years in education. The first 2 years are classroom work and the last 2 are clinical working, doing "rotations" mostly at the hospital, but some in outpatient settings.

During your third year of medical school, you'll make your specialty decision. If you truly still wish to pursue Plastic Surgery, you'll need to find an advisor and arrange rotations outside your medical school to get more exposure.

During your fourth year, you will compile an application for residency. This is a lenghty process of paperwork and interviews. Selection of a program is through a "Match" process where a computer matches applicants with programs. Again, Plastic Surgery is VERY competitive and success here lies in a number of factors--some you can control and some you cannot.

Residency for Plastic Surgery is presently in 2 paths:

integrated with 3 years of General Surgery and 3 years of Plastic Surgery or separately, requiring 5 years of General Surgery and another application process to get a position for 3 years of Plastic Surgery training. Right now this process is in flux as the Plastic Surgery divisions are splitting from General Surgery and becoming separate departments. The goal is to bring the entire training under the auspices of the Plastic Surgeons and move toward only the integrated tract.

Training is typically 6 years. You will have your MD at medical school graduation, but can only practice after completing training. In addition, there is a Board Certification process for medical specialties. Previously, this was a credential, but not necessary. Now, though, insurers are not putting physicians without board certification on their payrolls and it can be hard to practice without it.

Best of luck--it's a long road. As I complete my training (in Orthopaedic/Hand Surgery, not Plastic Surgery), I can look back and say I'm glad I did it!

i used to use gordan moores toothpaste years ago. i loved it, and i was really sad when they took it off the shelves. it was a cosmetic toothpaste that was deep red in colour, and it used to make your gums a deeper pink in colour, therefore making your teeth look much whiter. i havent seen anything in the shops that even resemble this product since, and i was wondering if anyone has any idea where or if they still do this, or even anything that is very simular to it? i would be very gratefull of any information. thank you in advance.p.s i live in england.

Reply:I have had plastic surgery on my nose. I am 17 so many people were shocked when I told them, however by this age my nose had stopped growing. My parents were very supportive and my father does face surgery (long techincal word I can't spell), removing tumours etc so he knows a lot about the subject. I hated my nose, I really did. The confidence boost I received after have the surgery and having the cast taken off was incredible.
Reply:I thgink that people can go too far with cosmetic surgery but I dont think its necessarily a bad thing! I know someone who's had cosmetic surgery and I dont see her any differently to what I did before! I would have it but I would have it when Im old and when I really really need it!
Reply:lots of my friends have implants. one girl i know got them bigger than her head and she looks ridiculous. haha. but i think it's okay as long as it's within reason and you don't change everythign about yourself.

i would consider it but i don't know if i could go through with it. i wouldn't mind a nose job but at the same time, my whole family has this nose and i would feel weird about it.

Reply:I definitely know someone who has had cosmetic surgery. When I was 62 years old and planning to marry for the first time (I'm now 77 years old), I decided to do something about the sun damage I suffered whilst bringing up 2 kids in Southern California and sitting on the beach most every weekend. I had no problem with the surgery - got recommendations from my friends in Phoenix, AZ, interviewed him and called several former patients for their comments and decided to go ahead. It was a full face lift, including tightening neck muscles to get rid of the chicken skin and the op went very smoothly. The 2 days following surgery were rough - the face is fully bandaged and very swollen, but recovery is amazingly quick, even at that age, and within 2 weeks I was ready to face the world. My friends couldn't figure out why I looked so 'fresh' and I didn't tell them. The results lasted a good 7 years and I would recommend the procedure.

Was curious if anyone has tried any of there new cosmetic line and do you like it???

and what have you tried and would u recommend it to anyone?

I bought some hydrating lip oil and it works wonders for those dry lips.

Not sure what kind though

It felt refreshing on my lips

And it has the minty feeling

it smells good, makes your lips soft, and it makes you lips tingle..but i havent seen any other products.

I want to get a rhinoplasty, but am in college and don't know if I will be able to come up with the money all at once, do most cosmetic surgeons have pay plans or do you have to have the money upfront?

Even the most expensive Beverly Hills Surgeon will try to make some accommodation for those who have a problem paying.

But unless you have a serious breathing problem, I recommend against Rhinoplasty. There is evidence to show that people with imperfect noses are more likely to succeed in both economics and show biz than those with more appealing appendices.

As you know, I'm a great fan of Michael, but, and don't get me wrong, I still think Michael is an outstanding talent, Michael's nose was fine when he was young and he became extremely successful. I don't know how many surgeries Michael has had

but the more he had, the more problems and fewer record sales he seemed to have.

I thought about having my nose done when I was younger.

I'm so glad I did not.

Reply:Most of them will go through your insurance company first and by the date of the procedure you have to pay the remaining balance.
