Is the quality of cosmetic surgery perfomed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon the same as the one performed by board certified Plastic Surgeon? Thanks for help.
Oral surgeon and cosmetic procedures...?
Unless it was surgery on the jaw or palate, I'd be REAL cautious about cosmetic surgery done by those folks. I'd rather have a physician performing surgery on me than a dentist.
Reply:Oral surgeons hail from dental schools. Cosmetic surgeons/Maxillofacial specialists are physicians.

About cosmetic surgery...?
So, I'm overweight and I need to lose weight fast. I've lost about 50 already, but it's not enough and I'm not losing anymore. I have poor self esteem and I'm depressed most of the time, because I'm exlcuded in almost everything and have no friends or social life because I'm fat. I'm thinking about having cosmetic surgery so to improve my self esteem and appearence so that I can live the life I've always wanted (I'm 18 btw and live in GA). My question is (and doctors are greatly appreciated), is it possible to get full body cosmetic surgery that'll get rid of the fat and skin and make me thinner? About how much do you think it would cost? Would there be a doctor willing to perform the numerous procedures I need? I need lots of lipo with my stomach, love handles, butt, thighs, stomach, back...almost everywhere and tummy tuck and skin removed where there's been lipo and on my arms. I have a poor self image and I feel comsmetic surgery will help.
About cosmetic surgery...?
I think you should keep trying to lose the weight naturally. If you have extra skin left at the end, then have that removed. Total body plastic surgery would be really dangerous! and CONGRATULATIONS on losing 50 pounds! You should be really proud of yourself. Also, try getting into shape and focusing on how good you feel. That might help you with your self esteem. I know that when I am in good physical shape, regardless of my weight, I feel good about myself! Good luck!
Reply:I knew of someone that wanted the same procedures that you are asking about. Her surgeon told her that they could staple her stomach, but the risk of doing all those other surgeries would be too great. they wanted her to lose 100lbs before they would do anything besides stapling. Some surgeons might anyways, but ALWAYS look at credentials and talk to past patients. surgery is always risky and shouldn't be something to just jump into. Everyone trying to lose weight hits a bump. Try new exercises, you'll start to lose again. and as for n friends... you just haven't found the right people. I have many over-weight friends and they are wonderful friends I wouldn't trade them for 50 skinny people ever. Just look into all your options. and if you need someone to talk to ever I have a myspace page... myspace.com/dastal you are more then welcome to send me a friend request. Good luck:)
Reply:I also think that you should try to lose the weight naturally. At least just for a little while. And you're really young, so that also is in your favor. My mother had the gastric bypass surgery about 5 years ago. She was around 300, I think, and within the year, she was about 185. While surgery is a really good option, there are also drawbacks, such as the scarring. And you stated that you already have low self-esteem (I'm sorry to hear that), but the scarring certainly won't help, especially a tummy tuck, etc. My mom has lost the weight, but now she won't wear things like bathing suits b/c she's self-conscious of her surgical scars. Also, with the surgery, there's a great chance of putting the weight back on, and some people get bigger than what they were b4. I'm not trying to scare you out of the procedure, but I hope you look at ALL the angles before doing something so drastic. Good luck either way!
Reply:Cosmetic surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Affordable Cosmetic Surgery?
Every human that lives will suffer from the effects of aging. Cosmetic surgeons can not stop the sure and certain death that aging brings, but they do have the power to slow down the systems of aging. Note to some: Having cosmetic surgery does not make you plastic(most procedures remove not add) and it doesn't mean you don't like yourslef, but means you want to be the best you can be.
I have done a lot of reading online about various procedures, and from what I have read, most should be very easy for a trained doctor. Yet the prices for all of it are just insane!!!
Are there any doctores that charge a price that the average working person can afford? If not, why not?
Charging less would help so many people!!!
From what I have seen online, the cost are about 5 times what they should be!!!
The way it is now, rich people get to live, poor people just get to work, get old and die!!!

Reply:Be happy with yourself and accept who you are. Nothing will change after the procedure.
Plus, if you were to find a heavily discounted doctor, don't trust them.
Also, yes, the procedure DOES mean you DON'T like yourself. How does this superficial surgery "help" people. It would only help in necessary way such as fixing a malformed lip, reconstructing a face or body after an accident or after a mastectomy.

Cosmetic Dentistry Payment Plans?
I am seriously interested in receiving cosmetic dental work. I am aware of the extremely cost of the procedures I'd want done.
I was wondering from those who had work done OR work in a cosmetic dentistry office if some offered payment plans.
I REALLY need this done, not just for my own pleasure.
I live in Florida.
Any answers are appreciated. Thank you.

Cosmetic Dentists Salary?
What is the average salary for a first year cosmetic dentist and what is the salary of a cosmetic dentist thats not a first year?
Cosmetic Dentists Salary?
It depends on many factors: location, experience, whether they work for someone else or if they are a solo-practitioner, what types of cosmetic procedures they are doing and the economy. Cosmetic Dentistry is not a recognized speciality, usually a "Cosmetic Dentist" is a general dentist that has chosen to focus their practice on procedures that are generally cosmetic in nature (ie. Crowns, Veneers, Full-Mouth Reconstruction, Whitening). There is a speciality known as Prosthodontics that is a recognized speciality that does many of these procedures and they have had much more advanced training in these areas. A Specialist can demand a higher salary than a general "Cosmetic" Dentist. I guess to answer your question, on average, a first year dentist will make between $70,000 to 100,000 (at least that is in the NorthEast).
Hope this helps!
Reply:Over 100,000.... or go to salary.com and see the area and everything. It depends. But that's what they typically make.
Reply:Don't really know but they make awhole lot of money $$$$$. It depends on the fees for their procedures but I know they make very good money...

Cosmetic Surgery???
I'm still fairly young to be worried about cosmetic surgery, but never the less, want to get it done. I had my daughter over a year ago and where MOST of my pregnancy weight has come off I still have some areas that bother me. For one I have so much extra fat/ skin on my stomach that I can't even look in the mirror without being depressed. I have dieted and excersized and I can't seem to get rid of the last bit. My husband still thinks I'm beautiful, but I feel ugly from the neck down. It's not as though I feel "fat" just flabby. Things sag where they didn't before. In summer, I'm too embarassed to go swimming because I don't want anyone to see my tummy, butt or theighs. I really want cosmetic surgery but 1- I don't think we can afford it right now, 2- we do want more kids and I feel like it would be a waste to get all the work done just to ruin it with pregnancy again. Does anyone have any advice? Are there payment plans in most doctors offices?
Cosmetic Surgery???
Finish having your children first like another has responded. Get tubes tied, then proceed with Lipo if you still want to. ♥
Reply:I would wait until you have finished having babies. nothing worse than spending big $$$ on fixing things just to have it broke again when you have more babies..Plus it will give you time to save and think about it more...
Reply:do it after you're done having kids.

Pros and Cons of Cosmetic Surgery?
I need this for an essay I'm writing--
If somebody could please illustrate the pros and cons, and any information they can find about cosmetic surgery, that would be vastly helpful.
Like, how did cosmetic surgery benefit/hurt our economy? What are the side effects of cosmetic surgery, physically? What does it say about America, which has one of the largest cosmetic surgery industries? Is it ethical? Is it the reslut of low self-esteem? Does it imply to much value in appearances? graphs, numbers, real-life stories, anything would be helpful. Thanks.
Pros and Cons of Cosmetic Surgery?
i would think you didnt receive answers due to this question being in the Philosophy category, which if you are just asking for opinions on it, personal opinions, that would be fine, but it seems you want detailed info, which would seem to get into the medical and psychology fields,,,,,
i think, like most things, it can be used for good or bad, caring about ones appearance is not wrong, nor is it a result of low self esteem,, at the same time, if you place too much importance on outward appearance or expect it to solve your problems, then you have entered a negative area,
our bodies are of course part of our total selfs, we develop and use technology in other areas, i see nothing wrong with using it in cosmetic surgery,
i suggest for the details you want, you research the effects of it,

Cosmetic tattooing help?
Im in Australia, and it costs about $250 - $350, I know someone who had it done and she said it didnt hurt and was the best thing she did as she had no eyebrows. Normally you have to be 18 but Im sure if you get your parents permisssion it would be fine. Of course they would have to sign something.

Cosmetic Surgery - Larger Eyes?
I am writing in regards to cosmetic surgery in an effort to obtain larger eyes. I have very, close-set, small eyes that do not fit my oval face very well. I have tried every make-up tip imaginable, however they are just too small and "beadie."
Is it possible for a cosmetic surgeon to alter the size of one's eyes, and set them farther apart from one another? If so, what is the name of this procedure and where can I go to get more information? Thanks a bunch!
Cosmetic Surgery - Larger Eyes?
Hi there-
i am a plastic surgeon in Houston and can tell you that unfortunately, Setting your orbits wider is a very very extensive procedure with a host of complications. I would strongly urge you not to do it.
If you insist on moving forward, I would strongly urge you to go see a plastic surgeon who specializes in craniofacial surgery. This is a highly specialized procedure that you wish, and very very few if any surgeons that do cosmetic surgery do this. The surgeons that are familiar with this procedure do this for children with deformed skulls due to defects in development. Do NOT go to the guy in your town that does great facelifts or breast augmentations. Unless he does craniofacial surgery in addition to cosmetic surgery- you will be very very sorry.
Again, in this instance, I would recommend not doing anything.
Hope this helps

Cosmetic surgeon?
How do i become a cosmetic surgeon? I'm in high school and i was wondering if i can get an internship with anyone in the medical field or am i too young? Also how much does cosmetic surgeons get paid monthly? And what is the best medical school in the US?
Cosmetic surgeon?
1. Go to a good college, doesn't really matter which one, just make sure you get stellar grades. 4 years
2. While in college take the MCAT and score well.
3. Get accepted to a Medical school, get good grades and do well on your USMLE board exams. 4-5 years
4. Get accepted into residency program for General Surgery, prepare for no social life whatsoever. 7 years
5. Get accepted into a fellowship for Orthopedic Surgery. Not sure how long this would take.
6. Your a Cosmetic Surgeon
Cosmetic surgeons get paid quite a bit, just depends which area your planning to practice in. For example: Having a clinic in Hollywood would bring more money in than a clinic in a smaller and less materialistic areas. You should do volunteer work at hospitals it looks good on your med school application, or do something that is in the line of helping people. All medical schools in the US are excellent.
Reply:I'm sure you can find a doctor to shadow, but don't think of this as an intermship. The normal route is to go to college, then medical school, then either general or ENT surgery residency, then plastics fellowship Once your practice is established, you can expect to make in excess of $250,000 per year, but income depends on your practice. This isn't like a salary from the local burger franchise.
Reply:4 years pre-med (bio chemistry, bio physics, biology) 4 years medical schoo, 1 year internship and 3 - 5 years residence in plastic surgery.
They get paid quite well. A starting 'hack' can probably get over $100- $125,000 per year at some clinic.
Best schools include Univ Boston, Columbia, Harvard, Yale, USC, UCLA, Univeristy of Chicago,

However...accutane gave me fantastic looking skin afterwards...I highly recommend it and felt it was 100% worth it.
Reply:acctutane.roaccutane we all it in the UK.i wouldnt want surgery.xx
Reply:I took Accutane several years ago and have not regretted it for one single minute. My pores shrunk by about 1/3 and I have rarely suffered cystic acne since. The only side effect that I suffered was from severly dry skin which left out using makeup other than mascara or lipstick. Petroleum Jelly will be your best friend for lips and dry nostrils. After the course of Accutane cleared up my skin, I had dermabrasion which for me, did not turn out so well as there is slight a difference in colour of skin pigmentation around my eyes, so I do wear a foundation now most of the time.
Reply:I think this is the 10th time I have recommended I.P.L ( "Intense Pulsed Light " ) to people with acne...I had it done on my face for Rosacia and my mom had it done to her old acne scars. I.P.L is not dangerous, it does not hurt and there is no down time like with a chemical peel or dermabrasion. I.P.L is light that is applied to the skin in short bursts, causing the skin to regenerate collagen, it even kills pre-cancerous cells, and unlike other treatments it does not alter the color of your skin. It tightens pores up to 75%! Accutane can cause liver damage and birth defects in a foetus if you get pregnant while taking it... Please look it up online, I am telling you it works wonders. You must go to a very reputable plastic surgeon for this, and the cost is so minor compared to the joy you will feel once your acne scars are gone.
Reply:I've taken Accutane. The side effects I experienced were very dry skin, especially on my wrists and the acne got worse before it got better (maybe a month of it getting worse). But when your skin does start clearing up it clears up pretty fast. I've been off of it for 7 years and have never had skin problems since. I'm assuming you mean dermabrasion by cosmetic surgery. My sister had this done (she had micro-dermabrasion, a less harsh procedure) and it did minimize her major scars, but she was still left with some.

Cosmetic science career?
I am currently a graduating high school student (gr 12) in BC, canada. I am interested in pursuing a career in cosmetic science...where should i go? I know that London has a bachelors in Cosmetic science, but I don't think I am able to travel there on my own to study. Any ideas? undergraduate, masters? I just got accepted into SFU science.
Cosmetic science career?
london universities have dorms that international students are allowed to stay in if you apply. travel to london with your family, make sure you like it, and if so apply.
the course is good im applying for it too.

Cosmetic Dermatology?
is cosmetic dermatology the same as cosmetic dermatology or are they different?
and in what feild does removing a birth mark, fall in to??
Cosmetic Dermatology?
I think you wanted to know if cosmetic dermatology and Plastic Surgery are the same. Am I right? Hopefully, I am. Cosmetic Dermatology and Plastic Surgery do overlap in some cases. Dermatology usually involves the health of the skin as oppose to the beautifcation of it. The beautification is just a side bonus that reflects heathy skin. Plastic surgery serves no healthful purposes whatsoever. It's meant to sculpt your body a certain way. Removing a birth mark could fall into both depending on the composition of the mark and the location on the skin. It also depends on the technique used. A surgical incision to the dermal layer where the mark is may require a surgeon and a dermatologist. I hope I didn't confuse you even more.
Reply:removing a birth mark would be plastic surgery

Cosmetic Dental Assistant?
I'm currently a first time dental assistant and would like to pursue assisting for a cosmetic dentist. Are there any recommended reading materials or how it differs from general dentistry?
There are not many resources out there for cosmetic assistants.
Cosmetic Dental Assistant?
It's the same exact thing as general dentistry, except that the practice will have aroma therapy, possibly give patients hand massages and offer therpeutic type services such as warm pillow, warm towellete after procedures.
Reply:I looked on http://www.wikipedia.org albeit not for professional research, and they do have a passage on the 'dental spa'. (It apparently used to be referred to as 'boutique dentistry' :)
Here are a couple organizations mentioned -- International Medical Spa Association: http://www.medicalspaassociation.org
Day Spa Association: http://www.dayspaassociation.com
For the American Dental Association: http://www.ada.org

Cosmetic Darwinism? - Your opinions on cosmetic surgery...?
I know...beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What are your views on cosmetic surgery, from a religious viewpoint? (You too, Atheists!) Would you ever consider it ? If not, is it because of your religious beliefs? Is it ethically wrong to enhance your physical appearance?
Cosmetic Darwinism? - Your opinions on cosmetic surgery...?
By 'Darwinism' are you referring to the evolution process? I don't really see anything morally wrong with elective surgery. If that's what it takes to feel better, then fine by me! Besides, to an extent, we are always evolving - it's an ongoing process, until we cease to exist.
Reply:What does cosmetic surgery have to do with Darwinism? Enlighten us. No one can pass on the cosmetic alterations through their lineage, genetically. What's the connection?
Reply:I see nothing wrong with it, unless you go all Michael Jackson.
Reply:I don't think I would, nothing to do with religion (atheist), maybe because I don't have the money for that, but I worked at a funeral home and the way they do liposuction is VERY similar to how they embalm dead people. That kinda creeps me out. I also want to avoid any unnecessary surgery.
Reply:If I had more money than I knew what to do with, and I wanted to throw some away I would get cosmetic surgery to get pointy elf ears like Cate Blanchett in Lord of the Rings. That would be badass, and a pretty good conversation starter at parties
Reply:dangerous and unnecessary. nothing to do with religion.. everything to do with mistakes which can be and often are made during surgery.. why risk it just some one can have bigger boobs when the boob might fall off later because of a sponge being left inside the incision...why risk unneeded surgery to have more hair or a smaller or larger or less hairy whatever? If vanity rules ones life..then it is the mirror that a person cares about..and not the person reflected there.

Cosmetic surgury?
hi i am contemplating having cosmetic surgury. i am 24 have 2 kids dont want any more! both my kids were huge babies (both 10lb 12oz) and much as i love my kids, what they left behind on me i hate. no matter what exercises i do or how much weight i loose i still have hordes of stretch marks on my stomach bum and thighs, i have over hanging wrinkly skin on my belly and i really hate it. i feel because of this its really getting me down, it has really knocked my confidence for 6 and i feel embarrased when i go shopping to buy huge size clothes (usually a size to big for me) to try and hide my extra unwanted bits. i would just like some advice on the subject of cosmetic surgury or even experiences as as much as i want this done i am quite nervous and scared by the whole prospect. im 5'11 size 14 (wearing 16) and weigh 13.5 stone 3 months post pregnancy. i eat a balanced diet get plenty of exercise and i am loosin weight despite doing toning exercises set by gym nothing is actually toning
Cosmetic surgury?
I think you should get surgery. Good job on trying to loose it yourself but if its not working then seek the help of some nip tuck professionals, after you are healed keep up with the grm routine. You will feel so much better afterwards :)
Reply:it's very early after your last baby to be thinking like this, are you sure your not a little depressed. watch out for P.N.D, it can come on about now and make you hate yourself.
your not a bad weight for your height at all but whilst your horemones are still buggered your body wont put much energy into building and toning your muscles. make sur you cut right down on white bread, because this can cause water retention and that soft flabby feeling, and please please remember that you dont look as bad as you think you do. wearing a size too big will make you look bigger. the best thing you can do is walk everywhere you can. this will tone all the areas that bother you and make you feel better as well.
i really hope you feel better soon and dont forget to see your doctor if you do feel dpressed.
Reply:Absolutely.. as soon as ive saved up.. i will too.
Reply:Try aerobics classes. Give it a year to see big results

Cosmetic Industry?
How would one go about introducing a cosmetic concept that could revolutionize the cosmetic industry forever, REALLY!! To date , this concept does not exist.
Cosmetic Industry?
i would say to be very careful about who you ask, and introduce your concept to!! The industry can be pretty cutthroat at times and if someone more connected than you gets your idea....they may run with it!!
So, as stated above...it's all about connections and who you know in the industry....really narrow down where your concept will come into play...is this a new "line" of cosmetics? is this a concept that can fit into another brands existing philosophies?
is this so off the charts that there is no precedent?
answer these questions for your self and then find a TRUSTED friend in the industry and start researching smaller private lines and how they go about doing product development and company guidelines and such...
the biggest trouble with new things in cosmetics..is first sticking with it even when it looks like it might fail....searching all aspects of sales distribution, and marketing stuff...and then you REALLY need to be ready to meet a demand if it takes off!!! that's where most companies fail...not able to meet a high instant demand!!
hope this helps a little...it really starts with who you know!!
Reply:arbonne's concept is using all natural products with no mineral oil and no animal by products. they have a great line of skin care and cosmetics. everything is safe, pure and beneficial...check them out!!!
Reply:well, I think whatever revoluntary that must have had happened, already happened. Look at the laser surgery.

Cosmetic you swear by?
What s the one cosmetic product (makeup or skin care) you absolutely WILL NOT go without? That you reccommend to everyone?
I am a huge advocate of dermablend cosmetics - I use the concealer to cover my tattoos if I am going somewhere formal, and you can't see a THING - not even up close, if you are looking for them. It also works great on stubborn eye bags or pimples - totally invisible.
Cosmetic you swear by?
I swear by Estee Lauder Hydra Complete moisturizer. It makes my skin soft, healthy and glowing. It smells wonderful too. So fresh!
The cosmetic I tell everyone about is Philosophy's "The Present" clear foundation. Yes, it's clear and it gives me flawless skin. It does cost a bit more then drug store brands but a little goes a long way and one tube lasts a long time. My skin looks like an airbrushed make-up ad! I just love it!
The other thing I can't live without is my Buff Puff. I must exfoliate at least 2 times a week and this little puff is like getting a facial every time!
Thanks! This was fun!
Reply:I will not go without my maybelline mousse foundation.

Reply:I love high lighter...my regimn is... under eye concieler, mascara. Eyeliner in my eye.
High lighter on my cheeks and plain lip gloss. It looks fresh and clean..oh and a feirce tan!!!!
Reply:Urban Decay eyeshadows.
I love love love love them. :)

Reply:Liquid foundation, evens skin tone out perfectly since I'm not blessed with naturally even skin colour. I do like a little flick of black mascara. Anything else if I have the time in the morning.
Reply:bareminerals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Burts Bees Honey Lipbalm is my #1 must-have.
close runners up would be my Soft Finish makeup (foundation) and High Impact mascara, both by Clinique.
Reply:I recomend Artistry because my grandmother has been using it for 20 years and people think she looks like 48 instead of 68. It works very well also. But they no longer carry my colors. =[
Reply:you're right, dermablend is awesome! I've seen it used to cover a port wine birthmark on a lady, and it made it look like she just didn't have it anymore.
okay, the one thing I wouldn't go without, and would recommend to everyone is Lancome L'extreme Mascara!
it makes your lashes extra long, and thick! I love it!
by the way, where do you buy your dermablend make-up? I would love to have some to cover a scar on my arm where my puppy tore it open with his toenail. thanks! = )

Anyone become addicted to cosmetic procedures?
I have a lot of body hair, am loosing scalp hair, have dark undereye circles due to genetics, have developed a fat face etc... and am getting cosmetic procedures or plan to get them in the future to help me combat these problems. I do not need advice about accepting oneself etc...because I have tried and not succeeded.
I would be interested in hearing from people with these kinds of problems (especially those who had hair transplants) or even with other problems that required cosmetic surgery (e.g., Botox, liposuction and so on). Is cosmetic surgery addictive? Were you happy with your results? Or did you find a way to accept yourself and not mind looking bad in pictures? If you accepted yourself instead of developing BDD (like I seem to be), did it take a long time to get confident with your appearance? Did you find a girlfriend (or boyfriend) once you finally became confident with your appearance? Or did you develop confidence as a result of successful cosmetic surgery?
Anyone become addicted to cosmetic procedures?
Liposuction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India.

Reply:Hi! I've had cosmetic surgery for two reasons;a car accident-I lost so much weight my face was sagging, and I looked 80, and also I have had lasar because I had some skin that needed it. Surgery is not addicting to me - its too expensive! I have had Botox, Restylane(filler), eyes and neck partially redone, and I loved it. I was very happy with the results, but make sure you find a fully certified plastic surgeon, not a quack. There are 2 associations they can be accredited by. My surgeon was also head of dermatology at a hospital. I didn't do this to find a boy friend, I have had 3 husbands, and a boyfriend now. lol You will feel more confident I think. Cosmetic Law!!?
if someone get injured (like skin allergic) from using a popular cosmetic (skin-care cosmetic) due to the reason of having high levels of chromium and neodymium. which lawsuit I can file against them?
Cosmetic Law!!?
Consumer Protection laws, there is also the possibility of battery.
Reply:Just dont use the product anymore. Is a lawsuit going to make you allergy go away?
Reply:I don't think there's really anyway you can sue for that. Report it so if there's enough people who have reactions they can alter the formula or put a warning. I mean there's TONS of products out there that people are sensitive to. From dedorants to laundry detergent, perfumes, paint, dye in garments......write the company and maybe they'll give you your money back. Otherwise...live and learn and don't buy that product anymore.

Hair transplant will take about a 9-12 months to see any real results however if you are going to someone reputable you should enjoy the results. for my dark circles I am trying eucerin if that doesnt get it done for me I will then try prep-h. botox can be overdone and the results can suck (sally jesse for example). Oprah has had plastic sugery junkies on her show from time to time and they dont look so good. my best personal advice to you is to keep it to a minimum and try a non few alternatives 1st. sugerical improvements, techniques and breakthroughs occur every year. Good Luck to us all.
Reply:I'm addicted to chapstick
Reply:Yes, there is actually a condition called Body dysmorphic disorder. A certain amount of wanting to change how you look is normal. However with body dysmorphic it can get out of hand.
You will find that the procedures don't make you happier.
It's possible to become addicted to procedures and it can be deadly. I have hear of people going in to have liposuction done and ending up dead because of blood clots.
If you read about it, you might be able to gain control over it. Mind over matter. Or you may be able to take an SSRI and get some relief.
I'm 41, a tad overweight, I have rosacea and I know
I'm not perfect. Procedures actually scare me. I want to be left intact. I hesitate, I mean right now I have an option to be in a study of a rosacea drug and I'm hemming and hawing...I want to look good but I don't want to take something that will destroy my kidneys! I don't like the idea of being a guinea pig.
Here is some more information about BDD.

Good luck to you.

Does anyone know where i can order a cosmetic contact lens for not that much money. My doctor will fit me for it but he wants $150 and the places ive seen them wont give me a price until i order?

Cosmetic contacts?
don't waste your money on those things. they look freaky.
Reply:Well, with contacts you have to be fitted since everyone has different size eyes. But you can get your contacts info and then order them online I would think.

Cosmetic Surgery?
Do celebrities, like Jessica Simpson, who go in for cosmetic surgery regularly stay away from the sun completely during their recovery period? How do they shun the media during this time?
Will you ever consider cosmetic surgery yourself, and why?
Cosmetic Surgery?
God, yes. I'd have everything done but my ears...
I'm proud to be shallow!!!!
Reply:We run a cosmetic surgery holidays company in Thailand and perhaps medical tourism is how they shun media. http://www.cosmedicjetaways.co... and our main emphasis is you come and enjoy the sunshine and exotic tropical location whilst recovering. Report It
Reply:the only reson i would consider having surgery if i were disfigured in some one, so in my opionin, it wouldn't be elective
Reply:they hide in thier mansions.
no i would have comsmetic sugery it is meant to be for victims of burns and stuff.
Reply:Yes I would consider cosmetic surgery for myself. I am considering liposuction and a breast augmentation. Why because having 3 children and planning on more really depletes your body and distorts its proportions badly to the point where there is no repair as in exercise and diet the skin just does not go away. And breast augmentation because simply my boobs are small and lopsided and I would like them to be normal looking and feel better about myself. You just better be prepared for the pain/recovery afterwards because any type of surgery has cons not just pros.
Reply:never
i'm not that rich, not too ugly. i know who i am. i don't care if you know me.
Reply:i don't know about celebrities, however, i had breast reduction a few years ago and even though i was completely miserable afterwards i would do it over again b/c that's how happy i am with the results and my body image.
if you get cosmetic surgery, then think about the season. i was all taped up with bandages and adhesive spray and a big bra thing in the dead of summer....i broke out in a heat rash and ended up not sleeping for about 2-3 weeks b/c i was so miserable. definitely a winter procedure!!
anyway....if it makes you feel better and you are being rational and safe, then it's your life and have at it....that's my view point!
take care.

Expressions of cosmetic sugery?
She got a nose job.
She got cometic surgery on the face.
She got a face lift.
She got a boob job.
Any other expressions concerning cosmetic surgery?
And is it possible to say " She got cosmetic surgery on the nose , or got cosmetic surgery for the nose?
Thank you in advance.
Expressions of cosmetic sugery?
well there are lots of terms 'mostly medical/technical' each depending on the site/location of the surgery .. for instance:
*Abdominoplasty = tummy tuck " reshaping and firming of the abdomen" .
*Breast Augmentation / Augmentation Mammaplasty = boob job "breast enlargment"
*Mastopexy = Breast lift
*Rhinoplasty = nose job
*Otoplasty = Ear Surgery
*Suction-Assisted Lipectomy / Lipoplasty = Liposuction
*Rhytidectomy = face lift
*Blepharoplasty = eyelid surgery
*Chemical Peel [using a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers]
...
There are other terms as well .. you can get more info/details in the following link :

Is cosmetic surgery considered a substitute for cosmetic products?
Doing a business project for cosmetic industry and I need to know whether cosmetic surgery qualifies as a substitute to using beauty products.
Elaborate pls
Is cosmetic surgery considered a substitute for cosmetic products?
Yes, but only to a limited extent. If you're doing this project in connection with learning about elasticity of demand, it's not a perfect substitute.
Reply:It can be considered that, yes. There are procedures for women to permanently change the color of their lips to a certain shade of the color. I believe there are other similar procedures for eyeshadow. Look up "lip shading" or "lip coloring".

Orthognathic surgery vs. cosmetic options?
I'm contemplating orthognathic surgery as well as some other orthodontic and cosmetic procedures. I have an underbite (class 3 malocclusion) and am missing a tooth (was just born without it) so as a result, I also have spaces in my top teeth. I'm also looking into veneers to correct the size and shape of my teeth.
My concern is more cosmetic (dental implant, invisalign to fix the spacing, and veneers on almost all my top teeth). However, I'm concerned about not fixing my bite via the corrective surgery before i begin the process.
I've seen orthodontists and cosmetic dentists, and was wondering what options anyone with similar issues have pursued? Anyone with experiences with invisalign to correct an underbite, or the jaw surgery? Also, I'm having a hard time convinving my HMO to pay for the surgery. Should I just go for the cosmetic changes? Should I listen to my orthodontist and go for the surgery?
Anyone who can reccomend a dentist in San Diego gets bonus points!
Orthognathic surgery vs. cosmetic options?
This does not sound like an "Invisiline case". I would go with the orthodontist's recommendations for surgery. Usually that is prefaced and followed with ortho treatment. Veneers and Invisiline alone would not do a good job (without seeing the case).

Are name brand cosmetics better than drugstore cosmetic brands?
Some name brand cosmetics guarantee that they are much more "healthier" %26amp; "finer" than any other cosmetic that cost a lot less. The truth is .....*shocking* you won't believe which cosmetic was tested and proven it was exactly the same as the leading expensive name brand.Between the name brands of Revlon(Drug store) %26amp; MAC(Expensive name brand) Revlon won the challenge :)
Are name brand cosmetics better than drugstore cosmetic brands?
i love mac regardless
Reply:I have had a similar experience. I used Sephora for a long time and I always had a lot of breakouts. Then when I was on vacation I had forgotten my foundation and picked up some Almay instead. My skin has never been clearer and my bank account feels better too.
Reply:Just be aware - especially if you're young - that cosmetics mean nothing..... Where you need to spend your money is on your SKIN..... making sure you take care of it - staying out of the sun - using a moisturizor with SPF 15-20 or so. Spend money on SKIN - not on makeup.
If you have good looking skin - you can live with a lipstick and a little blush your whole life.
Reply:I can certainly believe that. Never really knew about the findings you reported, but I spent ALOT of money on that Bare Minerals make up. I'd just started going to a dermatologist for adult acne and it had cleared up wonderfully. I thought the Bare Minerals, being all natural, would be great. If anything it made my acne flare up a bit more.
The sad thing is that when you pay MORE money for cosmetics, if they don't pan out, alot of the time we feel a bit more obligated to use the stuff lol. I got the tinted mineral veil, cover up, and foundation on QVC and paid $113 for the stuff with shipping lol.
Can you say...NEVER AGAINNNN lol.
Reply:As a makeup artist I use both the expensive and the drugstore brand. There are some great drugstore brands on the market. CoverGirl is one of them, especially their new "Queen" line by Queen Latifah.
Reply:I work in a drug store that sells revlon, almay, loreal, and all that. I perfer it better because to me i like the way it makes me look. I tried using the expensive stuff but i hated it. The expensive brand mascara caused me to have problems with my eyes burning and turning red, now i use drug store mascara and it doesn't burn.
Reply:It all depends some things are better I prefer after for a while spending a lot of money on makeup to just run to wal mart pic up ALmay, CoverGirl, Loreal, and Maybelline I swear by Loreal's mascara that and that way if a color turns out you dont like it with your skin tone or for whatever reason it isnt as expensive to try and get a new one also doesnt break the bank.
Reply:Some drug store or less expensive brands are like no name varieties. Made by higher end manufacturers but given a different name. L'oreal is probably the worlds largest distributer of cosmetics and owns companies like Revlon and Garnier to name a few. Just buy the brand that has the colour you prefer to wear and throw it out after six months if it is not finished. Always apply your makeup with a damp makeup sponge so the heat from your fingers does not change the colour of your makeup.
Reply:It depends on which products you use, your skin care needs, looks you are going for... and a slew of other variants
Personally MAC and Almay are the only ones who have gotten olive skin tones down to a science. I love MAC coverage; as I love Almay's ability to keep my skin clear. Almay's concealer is crap for me, but MAC's select cover-up is THE best concealer for me. I love Cover Girl, MAC, Avon, Stila, Bobby Brown for blushes and bronzers. MAC shadows and pigments stay on longer and never crease up. Maybelline's "Blackest Black" mascara is the ONLY mascara I'll use... it's perfect for me. I love the variety of MAC lashes and their adhesive is the best EVAR! MAC brow pencil and Maybelline's eye pencil's are great.
You see, it all depends on the individual. Think of what your needs are and find the products that will best suit you. I learned through trial and error. Make-up for me is a hobby. It's something I do for fun.
Reply:I absolutely agree with longhats. I think that investing more money in skincare rather than makeup is best in the long run. That being said, I typically use the more expensive brands (MAC, Prescriptives, and BeneFit) for makeup because I also get the opinions of the people at the counters; therefore, it takes the guesswork out of picking the right shades and colors for me. I found that I was spending a lot more on makeup from drugstores because it's tough to gauge whether or not the shades and colors are right for me through packaging. So I'd end up tossing a lot of the stuff that didn't end up being right for me.

Cosmetic Surgery - Beauty or Beast. Does cosmetic surgery improve the way you feel about your appearance.?
I am a 3rd year undergraduate mature student working on my final dissertation project. I am investigating what motivates people to undergo cosmetic surgery and how they feel about their appearance afterwards, I am asking for volunteers to complete a questionnaire if you have undergone cosmetic surgery, this will only take approx 10 mins of your time. If you are interested please email 92001592@northampton.ac.uk Thanks. Or please post your comments or answers.

Cosmetic Tattoing as a Career? Please share your thoughts?
I am considering doing a cosmetic tattooing course, As I have always wanted to be a tattoo artist, but seeing that the industry is almost impossible to get into, I have decided that Cosmetic Tattooing would be a great place to start and get great practice with a tattoo gun and shading etc, I have found a course that will teach me cosmetic tattooing %26amp; supply me with basic equipment, these courses are run out of select beauty college's in Australia (where I live) But they only run for 5-8 days and cost $5000-$10,000 dollars.. you can also do additional day courses to learn how to coverup scarring %26amp; add nipples to breast cancer victims etc... Is this a worthwhile career to be putting so much money into and can I really learn the art in 5-8 days?? Is it a competitive career and how much can I be looking to earn? Anyone that has any advice, experience,etc.. your input would be greatly appreciated.. Thanking you in advance :) I think it would be exciting, but would like to here your thoughts
Cosmetic Tattoing as a Career? Please share your thoughts?
No offense, but I wouldn't go to you if I found out you only had 5-8 days worth of training since the results are permanent. I think it would be a worthwhile career if you feel like you would get the job satisfaction from it. The key would be to find an area where there is a need for that. (For example, there will probably be more business in a ritzier, well populated area than there would be in a low income area with a small population.--I'm not saying there is a connection between the two. I'm just giving a hypothetical situation.) The next key would be customer satisfaction because word of mouth is better than any advertisement that you can buy.
Reply:How.

Cosmetic surgery while on vacation with your child?
During the first 6 weeks of summer, my hubby's ex-wife has custody of our oldest daughter. She is allowed to take her out of the country for up to 2 weeks during that time per the custody agreement. She is Peruvian and has family there that our daughter sees every 5 years or so. This summer while they are visiting the mother plans on reversing a few cosmetic procedures she had done. My husband and I feel that this is ridiculous because with any surgery there is a risk factor. What if something happened to her? What if the surgery went wrong? Or even if it went fine but she needs a few days of recovery? Our daughter doesn't speak any Spanish at all and does not know her Peruvian relatives very well.
They currently have on open case on file and will be going before the judge soon. She did not show up for their mandatory mediation. Should my husband bring this up to the judge at their final hearing?

I would say he only needs to bring it up to the court if he and his ex cannot work the situation out themselves. It is time consuming and expensive to bring the court in if there is no need for it. He needs to make his concerns known to his ex, and if she doesn't understand or refuses to listen to his concern, THEN bring it up in the hearing.
Reply:i would bring it up because her mother needs to care for her and she will be unable while recovering from reversal surgeries. if she wants surgery done, she should do it on her own time, not child time!
Reply:absolutely bring it up... to have your child staying in another country with relatives you nor she knows very well could be a dangerous situation.. if something does happen to mom, you might not be able to find your daughter cause she is with ppl you dont know.. i would not allow this... if she wants to have some kind of surgery done, she needs to do it on her own time, not time she is supposed to be spending watching her daughter... this could be very bad...
Reply:Yes most definately, this woman can't possibly look after your daughter to the best of her ability if she is in hospital. This is supposed to be quality time with her mother. She should be doing this on her own time. Some people are so selfish
Reply:Yes, tell the judge. Or why does your daughter have to go? Can't she just not go for this one time??? Maybe it can be rearranged with her mom.
Reply:OOH I would so tell your attorney..she needs to plan that before or after the child comes to be with her...man she is stupid and selfish!

Cosmetic Surgery - Beauty or Beast. Does cosmetic surgery improve the way you feel about your appearance.?
People undergo cosmetic surgery for various reasons ranging from vanity to necessity. It is usually to enhance their appearance and give them a sense of confidence, self esteem and normalcy as a member of society. There are people who have to undergo cosmetic surgery for example in road traffic accidents where their faces need repair work to be done or dental work in order for them to articulate in their speech problem. I am sure that whatever they undergo, it would definitely improve their quality of life and somehow make them 'whole' again. There are those who of course 'exploit' the beauty of their own creation by never being satisfied with their own looks and want to be forever young and beautiful in the phase of aging especially in today's context where looks matters....Hope this helps.....
Reply:I have had a double breast reconstruction after suffering breast cancer and two mastectomies. The reconstructions were classed as cosmetic, non essential surgeries. For someone in my position it was very important for me to have the chance of the surgery - even though I had to wait 3 years and 9 months on the NHS queues for it. Beforehand I felt ok about myself and got used to my new appearance (at least I was alive - even though I lost all my lovely thick, waist length hair too). I felt as if any part of me that was counted as feminine and attractive had been violated but when I saw my new reconstructed figure for the first time I cried. I was so happy and felt so much better about myself. Although I am 43 and have had 4 children I now have a firm figure of a 20 year old - and in 20/30 years time (if I'm still here) my new boobs will still be firm. My surgeon (a lady from Christie in Manchester) was excellant and any scars are small enought to be hidden under a bikini (when I am brave enough to wear one).
If you want any details re. surgeries feel free to e.mail me

Sorry, I have never even considered using cosmetic surgery.
Still, my childhood hero was Andy Williams - fantastic voice - but then I saw him on TV a couple of years ago. His face was almost opaque! It might have made him feel better but it sure didn't make him look better!
I had small surgery on my left arm which may be considered to be cosmetic. I had a TB vaccination which left a nasty scar on my arm. I still have the scar which is far less visible now - but when I was younger it really caused me problems.
I think that you need to realise that there are two questions here. One is just for the sake of being pretty, the other is for the sake of having nasty scars removed.
I will email you and will fill in your questionnaire, but I am not at all sure that you are asking the right question in the first place.

Cosmetic and Medical rhinoplasty cost w/ insurance?
i was looking into cosmetic rhinoplasty, because its something i have wanted for a very long time, and in my research, i came across info on a specific breathing problem (i dont remember the name) that i never realized i had, but very much so have it.
i also read that since its medical, insurance should cover most, if not all, of it. so my question is: since i have a legitimate medical reason to get rhinoplasty, and since i also want cosmetic rhinoplasty, would insurance cover most, or even all, of the surgery? i know its broken down into specific fees, suchas the surgeons fees, anesthesiologist fees, etc., but since im already going to be "under the knife" for the medical portion, would it cost that much more to just do the cosmetic portion aswell?
and for the record, no, im not trying to con doctors into giving me a free nosejob, i have a legitimate medical problem as well that is highly uncomfortable, and instead of going back into surgery at a later date, i might a well then.
Cosmetic and Medical rhinoplasty cost w/ insurance?
Rhinoplasty surgery is very safe nowadays.

Teeth Whitening COSMETIC..LEGAL OR ILLEGAL?
I cannot seem to find the answer to this..
General Dental Council ..Illegal if you are not a dentist, we will prosecute if we have evidence of an individual performing this procedure...
BABTAC Recomend not to invest in these machines as it is illegal in the UK
Pro cosmetic non Dentists..Legal ,we are not dentists, providing purely cosmetic treatment, one person even said around 5 years ago the EU brought out a rule/law recognising this as a cosmetic procedure. cant find that info any where!.Also if they are fully insured how can that make it illegal?
I have tried to speak to different people but seem to be going in circles. If it is illegal then surely there would be more than just 1 prosecution who claimed he was a dentist!
Cosmetic Teeth Whitening is in every paper, beauty salon, trade show how's this if it's illegal..
One thing i that also puzzles me is these compaines claim the product is 6% peroxide..That is over the legal limit in the uk, how do they get insured?
Teeth Whitening COSMETIC..LEGAL OR ILLEGAL?
How can it be illegal and yet the dentists all advertise that they do it. I was in Selfridges in London and they were doing it on the shop floor??
I think it's legal.
Reply:legal

Reply:Please just stay away from product with bleach...that can ruin the enamel on your teeth.
Reply:i was just talking to my dentist about this yesterday - from 3 weeks ago teeth whitening is illegal ! in the dentist or out - england is the only place in europe where it isnt legal .. however most dentists still do it even though they face 6 months prison

Cosmetic Dermatologist?
I had an idea of becoming a Cosmetic Dermatologist and I was wondering everything I need to know about Cosmetic Dermatology.I want to know ..
1.)How much do they make on average a year?
2.)Stuff Cosmetic Dermatologist deal with
3.)What grades you need to get during highschool
4.)What Courses I need to take
5.)how many years of school will it take
6.)What is the best college in Florida for it
7.)And -anything- else that i did not mention I would really like to know every thing about it and what I need to know to prepare for it =D
if anyone can answer all of my questions you will be GREATLY appreciated!!!and will get best answered thank you!!
Cosmetic Dermatologist?
My husband's uncle has recently gone from being a medical/surgical dermatologist to a part-time retirement type job of doing cosemtic dermatology.
From what he has said to be a cosmetic dermatologist you still need to do all the same preparations it takes to become a doctor. You will need to take lots of biology and chemistry classes. Your grades in high school are important in getting into a good college, but what will matter most are your grades in collee in your biology and chemistry classes so you can go into medical school.
Once you have completed medical school you will start and try to get a residency in Dermatology. It is one of the most sought after residencies along with ENT (ears nose and throat). Many doctors want these professions because they are low-emergency, low-stress types of jobs... You rarely get a paniced call in the middle of the night because someone's botox just wore off... (like you would if someone went into labor or if there were some sort of large trauma)
Though one thing to consider, theoretically you would not need to be a certified Dermatologist in order to perform procedures such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and inject botox. I believe any licensed M.D. can do those procedures, though it will go a long way with your credibility if you do become a board certified dermatologist.
Reply:I agree with vannessa.

ANY COSMETIC SURGEONS OUT THERE? Please help me by answering some questions for my essay.?
Why do you think cosmetic surgery is so popular?
What is the most popular surgical procedure?
Do you think the media plays a role in people having cosmetic surgery?
What advice would you give to people who want to get cosmetic surgery done?
Please leave you name, where you live, what cosmetic surgery you work for and your age. thank you.
ANY COSMETIC SURGEONS OUT THERE? Please help me by answering some questions for my essay.?
I'm not a cosmetic surgeon. I just wanted to point out that anyone can answer and say they are and give you bad information. It's best to look in your town's yellow pages and see if a plastic surgeon would be willing to answer your questions.

Hi, has anyone had bad cosmetic surgery or been rejected for cosmetic surgery in London? Please get in touch.?
Hi, I'm doing some research into cosmetic surgery and would love to hear people's stories, especially if you are in London. Have you had cosmetic surgery go wrong or just wish you hadn't gone through with it? Have you had cosmetic surgery on the NHS? Or have you been rejected for cosmetic surgery? Are you addicted with cosmetic surgery? Or have you set up for cosmetic procedures in your own salon? It would be great if you could help. Thanks, Caz

COSMETIC Teeth Whitening...Legal or Illegal?
According to General Dental Council this practise is ILLLEGAL, yet this is widley advertised in every paper, trade show, beauty salon? They claim if information is sent to them of this practise they will investigate and take them to court, they have prosecuted 1 person so far who actually claimed to be a dentist!!!
Pro cosmetic teeth whitening claim it is purely cosmetic that they are not dentists and it is Legal, one person i spoke to claimed that around 5 years ago the EU recognised this as a Cosmetic procedure, i cannot find anything about this???
It seems i am chasing my tail on this subject the GDC saying it's illegal well they are protecting the Dentists interest and then the companies that are performing the procedure saying it's not illegal!!
Can anybody givel me any legal advice on this subject or where i could find this supposed EU law on Cosmetic Teeth whitening?
As if it is illegal then why are they not doing more to stop it?I
COSMETIC Teeth Whitening...Legal or Illegal?
I think to be safe, you need to go to an actual Dentist. You will find they offer the service for at least £400 + (usually around £600) - not these other make shift companies, who are just in it for the money etc. At least you know a proper Dentist wouldn't perform an illegal procedure and risk losing their licence.
Reply:I thought there were issues with legality regarding Consumer Safety. Whether if was infact a safe product to use under the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
The way i understand it, the only issues were people using the kit when their gums/teeth were in such a condition to cause more harm than good.
Reply:It is no longer illegal. check out http://www.teethwhiteningreviews.com for recent articles.
Reply:I had it done by my UK dentist that advertises it, it is not illegal,
cost about £500 - not really worth it tbh.
