Cost of Opening a Cosmetic and Reconstructive Practice?

I am interested in opening a cosmetic and reconstructive practice in Atlanta, Georgia. I would like to know an estimate of how much it might cost to start up the business. Including all surgical equipment. Thanks

Cost of Opening a Cosmetic and Reconstructive Practice?
First you need to be a board certified surgeon. Somehow it doesn't seem like someone with that background would ask that particular question on Yahoo answers. They would be more likely to talk to another board certified surgeon and ask them.

Does anyone know a cosmetic dentist who is willing to barter? I'm desperate and will appear in before/after ad

I am in desperate need of some cosmetic dentistry after Sept. 5th. Long story, but had a car wreck a long time ago and am just now reaping the "rewards". My extractions (seven) are going to be covered. But something to put BACK in my mouth isn't. Anyone???

Does anyone know a cosmetic dentist who is willing to barter? I'm desperate and will appear in before/after ad
You should try posting a "wanted" ad on http://www.caretotrade.com. It lets you buy, sell, %26amp; trade items %26amp; services with others for free. Someone is bound to respond.
Reply:Actually a 'good' cosmetic dentist doesn't HAVE to advertise!! The ones you see on ads, are usually not that good, and are begging for more clients. It's like the ad for 1-800-DENTIST.. That is nothing but a list of dentists that PAY to get on their call list to get business.. Be careful!!
Reply:what do you offer in exchange?
Reply:I am thinking that you are trying to save money on cosmetic denistry work. Go to http://mybenefitsplus.com/40402607 and hit locate a provider. Look under cosmetic and see if there is a provider in your area. This is an awesome program and can save you lots of money. This is not insurance it is discounted dental benefits. If you need help you can email me at mikenchels@yahoo.com or simply click join to start saving. Plans start at $11.95 per month. You can't beat it!
Reply:Go get your dental work done at a dental school.

Can a person actually be made extremely beautiful through cosmetic surgery?

As we all know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not only that, but we have all seen both good cosmetic surgery and botched jobs. Whenever I see pics of good work by cosmetic surgeons, I generally see subtle changes. That is to say, there is an obvious improvement in a person's appearance, but the person still looks like himself/herself. And of course, there are the cases in which people have very obviously had work done and they look like freaks of nature. Is it possible for a person to have a series of cosmetic surgeries and look naturally beautiful afterwards?

Can a person actually be made extremely beautiful through cosmetic surgery?
Hot? yes. Sexy? yes. Beautiful?? not so much.. Beauty takes a lot more than surgery to achieve.
Reply:If not then americas waisted billions...
Reply:A little plastic surgery may fix a flaw you have, but too much makes you look like a surprised fish!!
Reply:You know cosmitic surgery hides natural beauty of girls. you just NEED to exept yourself for who you are!!!!

I need travel toiletry, cosmetic & jewelry bag for holiday gift. (Affordable, not designer)?

Looking for a set that contains a toiletry bag, possibly with two zippered compartments that are plastic lined in case of any spills (usually folds in half %26amp; has a handle); matching cosmetic bags, and matching jewelry bag/roll. Looking for something soft sided, a fabric that would be spot washable. The jewelry roll/bag would have a few zippered compartments to securely hold jewelry. I was given a set years ago and I am having a hard time finding anything economical online. Please help!!

I need travel toiletry, cosmetic %26amp; jewelry bag for holiday gift. (Affordable, not designer)?
Target ususally have cute stuff like that
Reply:Target and Walmart always have cute things. You can also try other stores like Ross or TJmax. If you want afforable designer like Sephora, try Ebay. You can always find cute thing that fit your budget on that site.

Ok to wear normal cosmetic lens for astigmatism?

My prescription for both eyes if the same : -2.75 x 180 Base Curve 8.5 Diameter 14.5.

I wanted normal cosmetic lens that have an 8.6 Base Curve and 14.0 Diameter. Do you think this is alright? The lens i wanted are here http://www.circlelens2u.com/151_Floral-V...

Ok to wear normal cosmetic lens for astigmatism?
There should be 3 sets of numbers. Is -2.75 in the middle? if so, that is a lot of astigmatism and non-toric lenses won't fit right nor give you good vision. (Ex: -1.00 -2.75 x 180)
Reply:i have an astigmatism, but i wear the acuve oasis which r good for dry eyes and astigmatism. ur eyes r similar to mine on the measurements. my left eye is worse than my right so they made the left one a tighter fit basically so it wldnt move 2 much. if i were u id sample a couple normal pairs then pairs made for ppl with eyes like us to see which works better.

Dermatologist remove moles for cosmetic reasons?

Can they refuse to remove moles just for cosmetic reasons?

Dermatologist remove moles for cosmetic reasons?
I'm not sure how much it costs, but you can get any mole removed that you want to. I had one that bothered me when I was younger and I went and got it removed and my insurance paid for it. If it is bothering you definitely get it removed! If you don't have insurance then call a dermatologist in your area and ask them how much it would be or how you would go about doing it. Good luck.

Asked if I had cosmetic surgery?

I have recently been to a family reunion, and right in front of about 15 people, one of my relatives asked me, 'So have you ever had cosmetic surgery before?' Suddenly, you could have heard a pin drop as everyone was waiting to hear how I would respond. I wanted to crawl into a hole. I just said ' well, that's kind of a rather personal question.' And then they said, 'You're rather defensive. So...if you didn't.....you would say no...so obviously you did. Gee!! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to answer a question like this without sounding offended or letting them assume that since you don't want to answer, you obviously did?

Asked if I had cosmetic surgery?
I like to turn situations like that back on the person asking by saying, "Why do you ask?"

Asking this might be embarrass the other person enough to shut them up, and if not, you get the opportunity to change the direction of the conversation.
Reply:Ask if they would like your surgeons name as they clearly need it!
Reply:well that was extremly rude of that person..instead of saying its personal (which makes it seem like you did) simply say no..but they did a great job on you LOL
Reply:Say None of your business.
Reply:I would just look at them and say "of course not, I'm fortunate enough not to need it!" and then immediately say, "why do you ask, do you need the name of a good surgeon?"
Reply:I agree that "why do you ask?' is a good response...

Just being forthright about it might be best, if it's obvious you had it. When you get plastic surgery, it's to look different, so if you look different, it's kind of unrealistic to expect people not to notice.

"yes, I'm very pleased with the results, thanks for noticing" would also be an appropriate response, not cagey, and not unkind, even though the question does seem rude...
Reply:There are two answers - one is the one you gave, that it's a personal question. The other is to say, "Thank you! It's nice to know that I look as though I've been enhanced - even if I haven't."
Reply:I think the person asking that question made a fool out of him/herself, not you. I can' t believe how rude that was!! I think you handled the situation perfectly.
Reply:Since they only asked if you EVER had it done not IF you had it done, I don't find that to be an issue. You smile and say thanks for thinking I did but no, this is just me aging well. You acted insulted and defensive for absolutely no reason and you could have handled it with so much more aplomb. Instead of taking it as an insult or too personal just be polite and take it as a compliment.

How do you fix cosmetic cracks in cedar clapboard siding.?

I recently bought a home. The inspector listed some cracks in siding to either repair or replace. When I questioned him about the severity, he did not feel there was major damage, just mostly cosmetic and that I could wait to address when houses needs restaining again in a few years. However, I would like to know if there is something i can use to fill in some of the little cracks, etc.

How do you fix cosmetic cracks in cedar clapboard siding.?
if the crack isnt causing the boards to fall off, then a stainable putty can be used. Another option may be to cut out the damaged section (preferrably at a stud) and retack a new piece up (this can be a pain, though, depending how tight the adjacent boards above it are.)
Reply:I have the same kind of siding - you can paint into the cracks if they are small enough - wider cracks you can put some good outdoor caulk into. I recommend something easily available like ALEX 25 year latex caulk - easy to apply and clean up with minimal crack shrinkage. Also see what you local Home improvement center recommends.

Bumpy skin caused by cosmetic products?
If you suffer from mild, moderate or even severe hemorrhoid symptoms, try ZENMED ZIRO it really works. There are a variety of treatment options for hemorrhoids, including temporary reliefs but ZENMED ZIRO works effectively on all types of skin. ZIRO Hemorrhoidal Treatment is a Naturally Powerful Way to Heal Hemorrhoids Thanks zenmed.com for such a great product. I am glad to receive Zenmed Ziro as gift, it has worked great and I will order again from them. Happy to find an affordable hemorrhoid treatment that really works.
Reply:Oh yeahhhh, Im sure thats it.
Reply:skin allergies can be reduced by not eating the foods that can trigger allergy outbreaks. also keep away from dust and other factors that can contribute to your allergy. be able to know what can cause flare ups. also try using this link http://www.skinoriginal.com to be able to reduce bumpiness and itchiness
Reply:Get yourself a good exfoliater! And use it with a loofa sponge or something similar. Neutrogena makes a good one, as well as many others. I would go with a Neutrogena exfoliater face wash and that should do the trick. Just make sure you follow that with a facial moisturizer by then as well. It will take a couple weeks to see results but I swear it works.
Reply:I had a similar reaction to simple baby oil. I think the heaviness of the old blocked every pore of my skin. I would suggest a lighter body lotion or something that is more water based than oil based.

Has anyone ever had cosmetic surgery done by Dr Shailesh magabhai patel at Transform in Manchester UK?
If this guy is a properly-trained, eithical surgeon, then he'll want to have a consultation with you to make sure that you're skin is suitable for the surgery. For example, fair skin apparently scars quite badly (apparently) so if this is a medically proven fact, and you have fair skin then he will warn against you undergoing the operation. But if he does not arrange a consultation with you and is content to just talk to you on the day of the operation, then don't let him near you! That is bad practice.

Do blind people get cosmetic surgery?

I know this sounds superficial, BUT I fell that those who see are more superficial and more about looks because they can in fact see these looks. I was just wondering if there were some people who are blind that have had cosmetic plastic surgery. Just curious.

Do blind people get cosmetic surgery?
Cosmetic surgery can make a person feel better by making them look like the think they should. It can also help a person by making them look better to other people.

A blind person may feel they will look better to others if they have some work done.
Reply:ridiculous question. cosmetic surgery is pointless, because you are who you are and, aside from eating healthy and exercise, there should be no reason for changing the way you look. This goes double for blind people.
Reply:I know a lot of blind people and I've never heard any of them say, "Gee, I don't like my nose...think I'll get a nose job." Why would they? They have lots of friends whether they look perfect or not. I say if a woman has issues with her appearance, a blind guy is the perfect boyfriend!

Is it illegal for cosmetic companies in the USA to test their products on animals?

i am working on a project and i having a hard time looking for information about cosmetic animal testing. Can someone tell me the answer to my question and give me some website that answer my question.

Is it illegal for cosmetic companies in the USA to test their products on animals?
no It is not
Reply:well what do you want them to test on? Rico?
Reply:Yep its illegal, Damn those activists...
Reply:Yep, it is illegal, but they do it anyway, who's gonna know ?

However, it is LEGAL to test all kind of drugs and sh!t on American troops abroad , or the population in poor countries which are given experimental drugs ... is it OK to assume that to politicians and the big companies, they are worth less than animals ?

Cost of Opening a Cosmetic and Reconstructive Practice?
Why nor consider talking to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. I'd call the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.

The counselor at SCORE will most likely help you to write your business plan because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting your Cosmetic and Reconstructive Practice and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your market ) and how you'll go after them.

I need a inexpensive cosmetic chemist to help me with a formula?

I own a small bodycare company and have a formula that I would like to re-create. I have consulted with several cosmetic chemists already but they want thousands of dollars to take on the project-which will take them no more than a couple of hours to do. I don't need to own the formula, but I would like to be given the formula and formulating instructions so that my little company can create this all natural product at my facility (house). Any inexpensive suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I need a inexpensive cosmetic chemist to help me with a formula?
Here is a possible alternative: Ask your suppliers for starting formulations for the kind of product you are trying to make. A lot of ingredient suppliers even have these on their websites.
Reply:Hello, you don't mentioned the cosmetic you want to formulate, there are many types in forms and effects, is it a lotion , cream or ointment ..etc , any kind needs its formula, i hope that you succeeded in uer job.
Reply:I believe that you are underestimating the work required to do this. If the ingredients are totally unknown, my initial estimate would be two people for six weeks, PLUS testing. That is not cheap. Sometime you get lucky, but rarely. Several tests that may be needed cost thousands each. The process is called deformulation. There are independent labs that do this work.

**************************

Based on your addition, get those chemists you talked to the job. You aren't going to get it done cheaper. I don't believe they can do it. Get the ingredients yourself and try to find the correct mix yourself. Being a chemist in that case is not needed.
Reply:you're underestimating the work chemists put in. the more experience we have the more valuable is our time. you can probably get a cheap chemist, but their work can be suspect. you get what you pay for.

Why Won't My Cosmetic Tattoo Won't Stick??

I first had cosmetic tattooing of my eyebrows done about 3 weeks ago. I was careful to let the tattoo heal and used the Tattoo Lube the technician gave me. Within 4 days, once the tattoo was healed, the scab fell off...and so did my eyebrows. NONE of the color stuck.

I recently went in and had it redone at a reduced price and now that it's healing I'm getting cracks in the scab (like the last time as it healed) and it looks like it's going to do the same thing again...

Why won't this tattoo stick? Should I have it done without the anestetic? I've had 9 other tattoos and never had anything like this happen to any of them. My skin is very oily...could this be the culprit?

HELP!!

Why Won't My Cosmetic Tattoo Won't Stick??
There could be a number of reasons for this.

First off, this is a tattoo, just like any other tattoo. It should heal like any other tattoo.

Just a few questions for you. Is any ink sticking? Is it all scabbing and falling out? Does the skin feel tight? Is there any blistering? Excessive swelling? Is this a reputable place?

To me it sounds like what is probably going on is your tattoo is getting to dry, and scabbing. Scabbing is not healthy for your tattoo, neither is excessive cracking. Your tattoo should heal more like a minor sun burn with some very light PEELING.

After getting your tattoo done, about an hour and a half later you should wash your tattoo with warm water, and anti-bacterial soap. Make sure to wash it lightly, until your tattoo no longer feels slimey, then pat dry. Do this 2-3 times a day.

Apply a thin layer of ointment to your tattoo 2-3 times a day for about a week. Once it begins to feel tight, and the swelling has gone down, apply an unscented lotion (such as Lurbiderm), several times a day. Try not to allow your tattoo to dry out. Monitor it closely for the next week. After that apply lotion once or twice daily for another week or two.

This problem sounds like a combination of issues. Poor aftercare, perhaps your skin is rejecting the ink, perhaps an artist who isn't going deep enough (inexperienced or not confident), and perhaps a complication with the anestetic. It may be interferring with the ink. I always suggest not using anestetic, just take an ibuprofen!
Reply:thats what I was gonna say.. with the oils in our skin certain types of ink will not adhere to the skin. you may not be able to this process .Especially on the face..Which is the oilest at ..times at least..Contact a Dermatogist and explain to him your worries. he may be able to help you with your problem.

Which are the best Cosmetic/ beauty schools in the world?

I am deeply interested in Cosmetic chemistry and cosmetology. I want to know to know the various schools present and the best teachers present in this industry and whether one can do a distance learning program with any of the universities offering such programs. How is a certificate from city and guilds international? I am based in india and currently pursuing my medical studies. thanks

Which are the best Cosmetic/ beauty schools in the world?
i think that would be in paris but o just dont now where exactly but they have good hairstyles
Reply:As far as variety goes, London is excellent. Jemma Kidd makeup school and Greaspaint are located there, to name a few. you would definitely have a variety of facilities to choose from

But ultimately, this is your goal, right? So you should really be doing some research! Nobody knows what's best for you better than you do! I'm not an expert, but I'd also expect you to have good luck in a big city like New York. In a fashion capital, makeup artists and cosmetologists are probably in high demand.

Best of luck, let me know how it works out.

Does military offer free cosmetic surgery?

I'm a spouse of a military and i heard that we are entitled of having 2 free cosmetic or reconstructive surgeries is this true? I want to have a tummy tuck and breast implants...

Does military offer free cosmetic surgery?
No way! That's not true.

I do know you are able to get reduced cost plastic surgery at Ft Sam Houston, TX. That is where they train military doctors. I don't think I would want "trainees" operating on ANY part of me though.
Reply:i enlisted in the marine corps and as far a i know, no they do not. but i do know however, they will pay for corrective eye surgery
Reply:no.
Reply:No, neither the military nor the majority of other private insurance companies will cover these type of cosmetic or reconstructive surgeries as they are not deemed as "necessities". Military insurance will only cover these type of surgery if they are related to repairing damage resulting from some type of injury.
Reply:Only for correction of injuries received in the line of duty.
Reply:if you fall under tricare and you are horribly disfigured in an accident or while deployed then yes they will pay for reconstructive surgery. this is not something that normal health insurance would cover under most circumstances.

my advice, dont risk pissing off the underwriters by making ingenuous claims when one day you may need them to approve something that may be on the line.
Reply:My husband has heard that too, he is also in the military but I think there are limitations. You'd need to talk to a doctor at a MTF. From what I understand the docs do this to train and keep up their skills so that they can treat wounded soldiers/sailors in the time of battle or other serious injury/disfigurment. Also call tricare. I'm done having children and want a tummy tuck to repair what my c-section did to me.
Reply:they will pay for corrective eye surgery, breast REDUCTIONS if you have back trouble, major deformities if you were born with them or caused by an accident...and when i say a deformity your flabby belly and flat chest dont count, its only for things like bowed legs or something like that.
Reply:OK, here is the real truth... the military (the Air Force anyway) will give you free cosmetic surgery. However, I don't know if spouses/dependants qualify for this or if it is only for active duty. That is something you will have to look into.

Any and all procedures are available but there are a few catches...

1) There must be a surgeon available to do your procedure (basically, any military doctor who is licensed to practice cosmetic surgery HAS to do a certain number of procedures in order to keep his certification; therefore the military offers them to members who want/need them... those who need them have priority over those who don't. Other than that, there are no limitations as to what kind of procedure you have done).

2) You have to get on a waiting list. Last I heard at Lackland AFB, the waiting list for breast augmentation was over a year long.

3) You MAY have to pay something... for example, you have to put up the cash for the implants. It's like paying for parts but the labor is free.

4) You have to trust that they will do a good job because there is no such thing as malpractice with military surgeons...

Again, not sure about dependants though. Good luck!! :)
Reply:Well, it's nice to see a military wife keeping up on the conflict in Iraq. How very wise you are to wonder how things are going over there and being so supportive of our troops.

I'm sure you are equally concerned about the wounded who have lost arms, legs, faces and other body parts.

By all means, get your little tummy tuck - and fix your boobs. In the grand scheme of things, those are really, really important.
Reply:no, only if it is related to a combat injury
Reply:%26lt;giggle%26gt; No, dear. You heard wrong. The military doesn't even offer cosmetic surgery to military members unless there was an accident ON DUTY that caused a physical disfigurement. And even then, the soldier REALLY has to fight to get it done because the military medical system sucks.
Reply:There is a huge difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic is for vanity, tummy tuck, face lift, breast implants. Reconstructive is to fix damage from severe accident that causes disfigurement. The military will cover reconstructive if it is deemed necessary for the betterment of the person receiving it. Cosmetic surgery generally isn't paid by the military unless it is medical necessity, breast reduction. I hope this helps answer the question.
Reply:generally speaking, no. very few treatment facilites offer elective surgery options to dependants, and only the actual procedure would be free, you would have to pay for the implants and the costs associated with your stay. additionally, there is a huge waiting list because it is strictly on a Space A basis to keep the surgeons in practice. Actove duty and reconstructive due to combat have precedence.
Reply:Lackland AFB does offer those services, it is just as lexus stated in her posting, there is a waiting list, there is cost, and spouses are eligible. you would really just have to talk to your doctor for more info, then be prepared to wait till you are contacted(kinda like gettin on the list for base housing lol.) and if your arent near a base that offers it then you will have to cover your travel costs yourself, and may just be better off going somewhere else. good luck, and ignore these folks who sneer at such an honest question that many of us are interested in. (not to mention the hubby would love for me to get on the list...but im just a big ole chicken)

I wanna be a cosmetic surgeon?

Hey i was just wondering what course does an aspiring cosmetic surgeon take?

I wanna be a cosmetic surgeon?
Education %26amp; Training

Plastic surgeons must complete the same basic training as other doctors. To be eligible to apply for medical school, you’ll need to complete a minimum of 2 to 3 years of undergraduate university education after high school, including the successful completion of several required science courses.

Because the application process for medical school is very competitive, most applicants have a 4 year bachelor’s degree—the minimum requirement of some schools—and some even have a master’s degree. It is not uncommon for people to apply to medical school 2 years in a row before being accepted. Applicants may also have to write the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), depending on the school they are applying to.

Generally, those applicants with the highest marks have the greatest chance of being accepted. However, medical schools also consider things like character, leadership qualities, and extracurricular activities.

Medical school provides a general medical education, and usually take 4 years to complete. Once you have completed your Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) you must then complete a period of “residency” training, during which you will receive specific training in general surgery and then plastic surgery. Residencies take place in hospitals or other medical settings. For plastic surgeons, the residency period usually takes at least 5 years to complete.

All MDs must pass certification exams administered by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. They must also be licensed by the appropriate province or territory.
Reply:if you are in high school take all the science and math classes you can. if you are in college check the requirements for medical school. I hope you realize that it takes many years of college and residency to become a surgeon. I hope you like science especially biology. it is not all fun and games, but if it is something you enjoy you can make a very nice living at it.
Reply:First you need to get into medical school. Cosmetic surgery is a speciality. Be prepared to spend the next 15 years of your life studying but the money should be great ;)
Reply:YOu need all the math and science you can get

Have you ever been critizied for having cosmetic surgery?

I could care less what a person does with his/her body, if it makes his/her feel better about themselves. I am all for cosmetic surgery, ( I am saving to get cosmetic surgery myself) I was just wondering if anyone has ever been critizied for their decision and how did you react?

Have you ever been critizied for having cosmetic surgery?
I'm planning on doing it soon and have told only a few people. Most everyone has been very supportive because they know what it means to me. I think cosmetic surgery can be a very positive thing when done for the right reasons. It can have a very positive impact on someone's life. Those that say not to have it and give the money to someone in need are not being realistic. Maybe next time they go shopping or buy car or buy anything for themselves they should save that money and give it to someone in need. I think it's an extreme way of thinking. And it's not American, cosmetic surgery happens everywhere. I've read blogs while doing my research about rhinoplasty and it's not just Americans doing it, it's ridiculous to even think that. Sorry for the rant but one thing that is wrong in society today is that people judge too quickly and harshly. It's easy for someone to say do this or don't do that because it's not their life or their situation. Plastic surgery is not just about superficial changes, it can be a tremendous improvement of life for a lot of people. Inside and out.
Reply:never had cosmetic surgery myself.....but i always wonder why people feel they need it....
Reply:I had a nose job and a breast reduction. My family and friends were very supportive, and I couldn't care less what anyone else thought about it! Not their business, so their opinion didn't count in any way! I love my body, and so does my hubby!

Do what you want - it's your body!
Reply:I think its stupid to have all kinds of surgery. Maybe one or two things that really bother you but being all fake looks funky.
Reply:I think its just a huge reflection of what a self-absorbed culture we are. Why not take that money and give it to a family in need? There are people who are starving, diseased, and yet so grateful for the bodies god has given them. I guess its difficult for Americans to see that perspective, and I don't blame them because its just what they we're exposed to.
Reply:I would hope you don't face criticism for chosing to have plastic surgery, but I also hope you have done a lot of soul searching first. As long as it is something you really feel you need to feel good about yourself, or maybe just really want to do for the sake of improving your appearance, you should be proud of your decision. Just don't go all Pam Anderson on us! Those things could have stopped the titanic from sinking!

How much did your cosmetic surgery cost?

Specifically, how much did your breast augmentation and/or tummy tuck cost? Where (city/state) was it performed? How long was your healing time? Are you happy with the results?

I've been doing research of my own, but I do not know of anyone personally who has had cosmetic surgery. Any input you have is greatly appreciated.

How much did your cosmetic surgery cost?
It can cost you an arm and a leg. Na, I asked my doctor to give me a plastic surgeon.I call for an apt. Anyhow, the secretary told me it would cost me $30.00 just to be seen. (I wanted a tummy tuck because I had 2 kids.) They lady told me $10,000-$35,000. Yeap. Costs as much as buying a new car.No, I didn't do it because I don't have the money. Good luck.

Help!!!im doing a debate on why cosmetic surgery should be insuranced!!?

I am doing a debate in my grade 11 English class on cosmetic surgery. Ive been stuck with the pro insurance on cosmetic surgery, although im very against it. Can someone help me find some good points on this topic because i can't seem to find any! The only point that's semi descent that i can think of is having surgery because of low self esteem issues which will lead to depression which then becomes a medical problem.Another point is prejudice from others and not being able to get a job because of your physical appearance. I need three main points to work with on my debate and on my thesis statement and essay(!) but i have abosolutely NO CLUE on how to make them believable...help me if you can..pls...anyone?...thanx!

Help!!!im doing a debate on why cosmetic surgery should be insuranced!!?
Cosmetic surgery to fix scars or damage from injury; such as from fire or broken cartilage/bones in the face.

cosmetic surgery to repair damage inflicted by disease; such as when a woman loses an entire breast to cancer.

You have the third point already, and it is a decent point.

In our society especially where beauty is at a premium and also narrowly defined by the mainstream, having a disfigurement, born with or otherwise, can be debilitating.
Reply:Happy people are probably healthier...hard to prove I guess.

I don't think you got stuck with this side. You can go with the emotional side of things and get everyone to side with you. You could start with the people unhappy with their looks and go on then hit your audience with the people who were disfigured and need "reconstructive surgery" to look like they used to.

I would go with the reconstruction angle at the end as a way to say, "if you didn't agree before you would be heartless to not agree now" or "what if you were in a bad accident that scarred you up?"

If you get people emotional about what could happen to them they'll probably forget that the other points were slightly superficial.

Would an operation that made a person skinnier be considered cosmetic surgery? Gastric bypass surgery makes people lose weight and I think it's covered by insurance plans. Why should people get a second chance at being thin when some people never did a thing wrong to be considered unattractive by society?

Hope this helped.

What is the cost per tooth for cosmetic dentistry? And did you get a loan to have your teeth done?

I read up about the procedure for cosmetic dentistry, and I want to know what it cost you to have cosmetic dentistry done on your teeth, what insurance company covered you, and if you took out a loan to get that done which loan company did you use?

What is the cost per tooth for cosmetic dentistry? And did you get a loan to have your teeth done?
I've had 11 crowns for restorative purposes but the cosmetic effect is the same as having them done for THAT purpose, and it was about one thousand per crown. A friend is having veneers and crowns specifically for cosmetic purposes only, and he also told me one thousand each. That's a pretty good average for cosmetic work per tooth.

Occasionally at times I had dental insurance they'd cover up to a certain amount per year (most plans cap it at one thousand, others two.) Of course, that includes all the other dental work included over the course of a year, not just crowns. Without insurance I just paid privately. But I must warn you, if you are having it done specifically for cosmetic purposes, they will NOT cover the procedures at all. Mine had to have series of x-rays, photos and dentist's reports for the teeth in question just to prove that my work was necessary, not cosmetic. In fact I had coverage for one tooth declined for that very reason. As for a loan, ask the dentist office. I'm sure they have financing steps they will help you through.
Reply:what kind of cosmatic dentistry are you talking about? Most cosmatic dentistry could be expensive. you are looking at anywhere from $500 to $2000 a tooth. That also depends on where you live and the dentist himself they all have different fees. Insurance does not cover anything cosmatic. Most dentist have care crdit which is kind of like a payment plan. I know because we have it at my husbands clinick
Reply:Depends on the kind of cosmetic dentistry, it could be anywhere

between $100- $1,000 per tooth or more. In addition to eHealthPlus

discount I was also offered the zero interest loan for 12 months

with the loan company dentist worked with.
Reply:most dental work these days have a pretty hefty price tag......fortunately, there are now discount benefits available where you can save from 25% to 80%--it's like having a grocery store discount card and they also come with additional discounts on vision, chiropractic and prescription at no additional charge.

Is it possible for cosmetic surgery on arms and legs???

ok...this may seem like a really daft question, but ive scoured the internet for ages now looking for the answer to this question and never seem to find the right answers...

i have really skinny arms and legs, and no matter how much/what i eat or go to the gym, they dnt seem to be getting any bigger. ive been really conscious of my arms and legs since i was younger and its doing my head in :^(!!!

i go to the gym 3 times a week sometimes four but there is never any difference in size of my arms or legs and i eat like a horse and it just goes onto my belly lol! i know most of you are thinking right now "what an idiot!" but short of taking steroids lol im never gna sort this problem out am i? or am i.....

is it possible to have cosmetic surgery on arms and legs? i.e implants or injections?

Direct links to sites would be much appreciated, also ur opinions too.

Thanks Dan ;^)

Is it possible for cosmetic surgery on arms and legs???
Yes, you can get implants for your biceps and your calves. I have seen it done on many cosmetic surgery reality shows. Check out this website:

http://www.bodyimplants.com/index.html
Reply:it is possible, but i dont know of any websites
Reply:I used to work for a plastic surgeon and the only thing I have heard of are calf implants. I dont think they're safe....I think eventually you'll have problems. The doctor that I worked for didnt do them so I dont know too much about them.

I know how it feels to have something that bothers you but other people think is fine, but DEFINATELY dont risk your health and well-being for reasons of vanity! Steroids are NOT cool....can we say "roid rage"? I think I speak for the majority when I say I'd rather hang out with people that have skinny arms and legs than people that are all hopped up on roids.

I know you said you have been working out and stuff but have you consulted a personal trainer? It helps to have a professional to consult and they might have some secret that will help you out! Good Luck!
Reply:You can consider having a calf implants for your shapeless legs. Calf implants are usually done to add shape to the lower leg but the downside is the visible scars left on the leg. As calf-implant surgeries are relatively new procedures and most doctors are still quite skeptical about them. Why Asian’s actor/actress get plastic surgery done and promoting cosmetic surgery to the public?

Is it bad to have cosmetic? I mean most people in in the world had or have cosmetic surgery done to their face, such as double eyelids, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, and etc. I just don’t understand why people want to get plastic surgery to be “beautiful.”

I don’t know why my Asian friends want to get double eyelids surgery done, because they think having bigger eyes is consider beautiful. I myself am Asian, and I don’t want to get plastic surgery, because I personally like almond eyes, they’re beautiful; it makes them look mysterious and sophisticate.

Anyway, cosmetic surgeries are widely popular in Korea, Japan, and China. I don’t know what they are trying to change their looks to appear more westernize, which I think promoting the public to get plastic surgery. I mean, why get plastic surgery to make you look “beautiful, when you’re already beautiful? Also, getting plastic surgery done with double eyelids, rhinoplasty will not make your future kids have the double eyes, and a narrow nose.

Also having braces, does that mean I have cosmetic surgery done to my teeth? I hope not.

Why Asian’s actor/actress get plastic surgery done and promoting cosmetic surgery to the public?
If you like the way you look, then you are much more secure than everyone else. Congrats to you! The others are insecure and trying to use surgery to become more accepted. It's not about appearance as much as it is about self-confidence!

Who is the best cosmetic dentist in philadelphia?

I am looking to get veneers to close the slight gap between my top teeth. Who is the best cosmetic dentist for the job whose prices are reasonable?

Who is the best cosmetic dentist in philadelphia?
I may have a couple good leads for you. Contact me at Mairzeedotes43@aol.com I am assuming Philadelphia, Pa.

I have found staff members do not give any information except to come in for a consultation or yes veneers are done here.
Reply:"Best" is very subjective. Do you mean the most skilled, best personality, longest-lasting results....or do you just want inexpensive?

Cosmetic Dentistry is not a recognized specialty by the ADA, so almost any dentist can call themselves "Cosmetic" in the ads.

Call a few dentists and go in for a consultation. Ask for Before and After photos of their cases (not pictures they bought from a marketing company) and talk to the staff.

Also, it would be smart to explore alternatives to veneers to close that gap. Invisalign may work for you without disturbing tooth enamal which would likely be necessary to place veneers.

This treatment should last a very long time - maybe your lifetime. Don't go cheap.

How much does a cosmetic dermatologist earn per year?

How long does it take to become a cosmetic dermatologist?

And what do they really do? Do they just focus on veins, acne, and botox.

How much does a cosmetic dermatologist earn per year?
Actually, i looked this up earlier today (HUGE coincidence huh?) and they make $100-250 thousand a year. and yes they focus on things that are unecessary to remove, but it helps boost confidence. :] good luck!

Have anybody had any cosmetic dental done?

Have you had any cosmetic dental done? If you had...veneers, bridges and whitening done all together...I was wondering how much did you pay for it? I think my doctor is trying to hustle me.

Have anybody had any cosmetic dental done?
Sister is a dentist and yes its expensive but man is the difference worth it. I have white straight teeth and people tell me all the time how much they look good and wish they looked as good. If money is a problem with you then don't do it and look and feel bad. Its your body and its your choice.

Jobs in dentistary and cosmetic surgery?
I think Maid Marion needs to find a new career. I'm a Dental nurse and love my job. I meet lots of new people every day, get a chance to help them, work with other likeminded people. Give stickers out to make kids happy. I love doing the surgical work, I know that what I do will make a diiference to that patient. Being a Dental Nurse isn't just a job it's a career and if you can't stick it GET OUT!
Reply:i,m a dental nurse and its not a fun job unless you find looking at people,s dirty mouths all day..cleaning out the suction at the end of the day, full of stringy saliva..being spat on and having kids throw up..patients moaning all day long and then do nothing about takindg better care of thier teeth and the pay is crap
Reply:Oh maid marion change your job then if you hate it that much, doesnt mean other people will hate it too you sure it aint you lol
Reply:I have been a dental technician for 16 years and I love it. Just so you know a technician makes various dental appliances: crowns veneers, dentures, partials and orthodontic appliances. It is a very rewarding career, but not for everyone! You definitely should have some artistic ability if you choose this as a career, because that's where you make good money. I get alot of satisfaction of helping my dental team create a beautiful smile for someone. It gives me a good feeling in my heart when a patient that never smiles because their teeth are messed up, leaves the office crying and grinning from ear to ear!

Where girls use most cosmetic products?

In which country girls use most cosmetic products?

Where girls use most cosmetic products?
Middle East especially Persian girls! Trust me, I have never seen women wear so much makeup here in USA! They wear full on makeup (tons of it) just to go to the grocery store in the middle of the day.

We may use a lot of products here USA (I do) but we don't pile it up like a layered cake. It's usually done at night time for going out and again usually it's done naturally or tastefully.

Bathroom Caulk as a Cosmetic Enhancement?

There was an article in our local paper about how more and more people are using industrial silicone (like bathroom caulk) or parafin wax and injecting it into their cheeks, bust, lips, etc as a cheap alternative to cosmetic surgery. The article also said this is big on the transgender community. I have never heard of this and would think it's extremely dangerous. Is the reporter just trying to make for an interesting story, or does this really happen?

Bathroom Caulk as a Cosmetic Enhancement?
No, not only does it happen, there have been cases of people who have undergone this procedure DYING and those who have performed the procedure ended up in jail.

How can I get Electric Signage for Cosmetic Companies such as Revlon, Maybelline, and Loreal?

I'm a business owner and have a cosmetics department in all of my stores. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get electric signs for major cosmetic companies so that i can display them in my stores. I'm hoping to get them for free or as cheap as possible, but am open to paying a bit more just so that my department looks nicer.

How can I get Electric Signage for Cosmetic Companies such as Revlon, Maybelline, and Loreal?
You have to contact that companies showroom or marketing department. If you are licensed with them or have an account with them they should have those items available for you. They usually have an abundance of promotional stuff that will help as well. If they don't offer anything like that I would think about having them made myself. Although, be careful, some lighting can get costly anywhere from $500 +

Can i use cosmetic tattooing or permanent makeup to cover my birthmark?

I've read people's statements that the only thing that can be done with cosmetic tattooing is covering light and white areas of skin to make them closer to the normal skin tone. It never works out to cover pigment darker than your skin's. I'm black and my birthmark is lighter than my skin tone. Would it be possible for me to get it colored darker to perfectly match my skin color?

Can i use cosmetic tattooing or permanent makeup to cover my birthmark?
Are you saying that you want an artist to tattoo over your birthmark to make it your same skin tone so it looks like you don't have a birthmark? Yes, that is very possible. Take a look at these spider veins and how well they were covered up:

http://www.smoothfx.com/smooth/cosmetic/...

****NOTE*****

It's a huge myth that tattoos unless from 30yrs ago will interfear with MRIs CT Scans etc.
Reply:Why would you want to? Unless it REALLY looks like you have a pigment disorder, I woulden't worry about it. I'm paleeeee, and I have a few very large dark brown birthmarks, and they are unique to me :)

Be proud!
Reply:Wow, hard one. Generally, I'd say try the makeup designed to cover scars, Dermablend. Their website is www.dermablend.com

Tattoo dyes sometimes contain elements that make it difficult for you to have certain medical tests later in life like MRI's and CT scans.

If the Dermablend doesn't work, you need to consult a dermatologist who specializes in black skin problems. Good luck.
Reply:Years of experience has proven to cosmetic tattoo artists that this simply does not work. You cannot cancel out dark coloration in the skin with tattooing - especially white or skin tone colors that always look pasty and obvious over a dark pigmentation in the skin - a body art design is the best choice with multiple colors to distract.

If on the face, I can only recommend a very qualified laser doctor..

It depends on the birthmark. If it is a raised birthmark (closer the the mole family) then absolutley not. If it is a flat red or brown birthmark, you can, but the final decision lays with your tattoo artist. I he/she feels that his/her artistry cannot cover it up they will be up front about it if they are reputable. Try incorporating it into the piece instead of covering it up. Good luck!

Do you think cosmetic surgery is good or bad ?

do you think cosmetic surgery is good or bad ?

Do you think cosmetic surgery is good or bad ?
It depends. Cosmetic surgery is good if the intention is to correct and enhance physical and facial deformities; it is bad if the intention is simply to alter and artificialize physical and facial features (for example, breast and butt augmentation where silicone is injected or inserted to make it look erect, bigger, and rounder).
Reply:i dont prefer cosmetic surgery.dont u think god created u the way u should be?y mess up with nature?
Reply:good cause some people definitely need it, but some don't and should to save the world from their fugly looks
Reply:I think it's good. I had a tummy tuck a year ago because it was the only way I would ever wear a bikini again (previous c-section + pregnancy that put 65 LBs on my little 100 LB body). And sometimes lipo is needed to get weight off of someone to possibly save their life. As long as it's done for the right reasons I think it's fine. Getting fake boobs to please your boyfriend would be the wrong reason, it has to be done for the sole purpose of pleasing or bettering the person actually getting it done since there are risks and complications as well as mental, emotional and physical changes.
Reply:I think it is good - but I think you should always be careful and never overdo it.

Some people look great with little things, like a nose job or tummy tuck. Look at Demi Moore! But others go over the top and do too much, like that singer, Cher and Pam Anderson
Reply:I think it is ok. It depends on wha you want surgery on.

95% bad
Reply:Good or bad? ITS AWESOME lol Im all 4 surgery, but Im not 4 just picking out of the phone book. You should check out their website %26amp; make sure they are board certified, look 4 trophys or certificates in the office %26lt;3 Melanie myspace.com/thatspoiledbella
Reply:i think its bad
Reply:If someone doesn't feel good in his body, is ashamed or shy, and the surgery will help him to be more confident and open - why not? You just need to find a good doctor. Surgery can become dangerous if we do this very often and when our doctor isn't' professionalized.
Reply:In my opinion, i think cosmetic surgery is bad because it can ruin the way u look in years time. This is how god created u, u should be thankful.
Reply:I don't like it. Unless you are disfigured from a birth defect or accident, why mess with it? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and we place too much value on outward appearances.

Also, any surgery has risks. I'm not willing to "go under" so my nose can be a little smaller. I'll just put on a little more lip gloss to draw your attention there instead : )
Reply:I think it's a personal choice to have this surgery, and people shouldn't judge you for it. My mom had a huge scar from having three emergency c-sections, so she had a tummy tuck (and some lipo while she was at it) to fix it. I think it was a great move for her! I know that there are people who think we should just be happy with what God gave us, but I bet they have died their hair before and/or wear makeup! It's the same idea!

any one used this bfore?how much money need for this?is this expansive?

Do u know cosmetic surgery?
Cost really depends on where you live. Look up some plastic surgery clinics in your region and ask them for quotes - the information may even be available online.

Dermabrasion can be effective, but make sure you check the credentials of the surgeon carrying out the procedures.
Reply:cosmetic surgery, plastic surgery for cosmetic purposes, such as the improvement of the appearance of the face by removing wrinkles or reshaping the nose.that modifies or improves the appearance of a physical feature, irregularity, or defect.

What are the Cosmetic Options for Teeth Damaged by GRINDING?

I am been grinding my teeth since I was a child and, although I now wear a night guard, the grinding has done permanent damage. What cosmetic options are available to repair damage to teeth from grinding?

What are the Cosmetic Options for Teeth Damaged by GRINDING?
KEVIN,

THE REAL KEY IS TO ADDRESS THE GRINDING. IF THE DENTIST ONLY MAKES YOU A NIGHT GUARD, YOU WILL ONLY END UP GRINDING THROUGH THIS.

WHAT YOUR DENTIST NEEDS TO DO IS MAKE YOU AN N.T.I. BRUXISM APPLIANCE.

WITH THIS, UNLIKE A TRADITIONAL NIGHT GUARD, THE TEETH WON'T BE TOUCHING AND MANY PEOPLE STOP GRINDING AFTER SOMETIME.

AS FAR AS THE TEETH DAMAGED BY THE GRINDING, HERE YOU HAVE DIFFERENT OPTIONS. I PERSONALLY PREFER TO PLACE CAPTEK PORCELAIN CROWNS - WHERE INDICATED. THESE CROWNS ARE EXCELLENT TO THE GUM TISSUES AND ARE VERY STRONG. OTHER TEETH MAY BE REPAIRED BY VENEERS DEPENDING ON THE CASE.

YES, YOU DO HAVE OPTIONS TO REPLACE THE DAMAGE TO YOUR TEETH - - BUT CONTROLLING THE GRINDING IS THE KEY.
Reply:those porcelin venier things... i'd talk to a cosmetic dentist and see what they have to say
Reply:It depends on the extent of the damage and the loss of vertical dimension of occlusion. Talk it over with your dentist. You MAY be a candidate for veneers, or you may need the full coverage of porcelain crowns. Further, if the damage is extensive, you MAY require full mouth reconstruction, to increase the vertical dimension of occlusion and make room for esthetic restorations on the anterior (front) teeth. Full mouth reconstruction would involve crowning posterior (back) teeth, as well. It's a complex question, that is based on the amount of damage and the condition of the remaining tooth structure. Talk it over with your dentist, find out your options, and costs for each option.

Any makeup or cosmetic surgery advice for women with two different colored lips?

I'm from a South Asian (Indian, Pakistani) background, and know that many African-Americans suffer through this problem as well. My top lip is dark brown, while my bottom lip is bright pink. Any specific lipsticks or lipglosses that would help disguise this irregularity. I've already tried blending different lipsticks together, but it takes too much time, and still doesn't look right. Also, is there any laser or cosmetic procedure that can be done to maybe soften the large color difference? I've been searching endlessly for any answers, and haven't found any information at all. Thanks for the help.

Any makeup or cosmetic surgery advice for women with two different colored lips?
You can try using a brown lip liner...MAC makes a wonderful one called chestnut. What you do is line your lips with the lip liner and then you rub your lips together...the color of the lip liner will stain your lips making them the exact same color. Or you can try this product called Dermablend(It really works), I believe it is sold at Foley's and Sephora. Personally i would not reccommend surgery. Please try these products.I wish you the best of luck.
Reply:Please do not get plastic surgery you were put here the way you are for a reason. Maybe use a darker color lipstick or lip gloss but please dont get plastic surgery.
Reply:Really, you look at this as a problem? It sounds extremely attractive in a exotic way.
Reply:"Permanent Make-up" tattooing is the best option for you. Search your yellow pages for a qualified "permanent makeup" cosmetician.

This way you won't have to worry about blending lipstick or anything like that, your lips will be the same shade.

How much $$ do cosmetic chemists make?

After two years in medical school, I find myself fascinated with cosmetic chemistry. I want to know if this is a viable career change to suit my financial desires and my personality? Any tips on this career would be appreciated!!!!!!

How much $$ do cosmetic chemists make?
In general, industrial chemists with a Ph.D. make about 70,000-80,000 per year without doing a postdoc. chemists who have done a postdoc do a little better, about 80,000-90,000

How do you feel about elective cosmetic surgery?

If money were no object, would you have cosmetic surgery? Not for anything medical like fixing a burn or a cleft palate, but something totally cosmetic like a nose job or breast augmentation.

How do you feel about elective cosmetic surgery?
If you can afford it, and you really did your research on the procedure and the doc, why not?

Most answerers are young enough not to need remedial cosmetic surgery [ except dermabrasion maybe ], but I can understand fixing a large nose, getting breasts if you have none, a tummy tuck after several Csections, etc, etc. Just get what you 'need', not do your entire body!
Reply:nope. i'm not into that stuff at all and never will be.
Reply:it depends on the person. if it is something that is going to make you feel better about yourself, then by all means. breast implants are terrible for you. but like reduction and etc i would totally get done. taking things out of my body, not putting them in. there is just something not right about putting a foreign object inside my body.
Reply:No. You shouldn't use surgery to "fix" a superficial problem. Cosmetic surgery is just a way to show off extra money and try to become a human barbie doll.
Reply:Sure. well I wouldn't want breasts, ha ha.. But anyway, we are born into these bodies and they belong to us. I think we have the right to do whatever we want with them... although I think some choices are obviously better than others. I don't have any bad feelings about people who want to look better. now a lot of the time I don't think they end up looking better at all.. but that is just me. For me.. whatever. I guess I would like a sharper nose but it isn't killing me to have it. I did lose a lot of weight and I have some loose skin here and there which I would get off if I had spare change laying around to do it. Breast augmentation.. well I think fake breasts look absolutely terrible on anybody that doesn't need them for after a mastectomy. But even then, I think people who think they need them are perfectly fine. I just don't have a desire to touch them... ewwwwww
Reply:no. new boobs or a better nose doesnt really make people happy. they should get therapy instead. besides, big fake boobies and all that isn't cool anymore...its traaaashy.
Reply:Lack of empathy in the world today causes the people above to write comments which could be potentially painful for others. Please stop being so judgmental and try to understand other people's points of view.

There are some who have some form of deformity (it feels like that to them) - eg someone with a huge nose which dominates their face, or someon who doesn't even fit into a AAA cup bra (thatd be me ladies and gentlemen). It's all good to throw stones but try lving the lfie of someone who has never had breasts, has never experienced them, and feels like less of a woman when she puts her measurements into a bra size calculator and gets "error". Or step into the shoes of someone whose face seems to revolve around their nose. Or someone whose ears stick out that it is actually the first thing that strangers notice.

So stop calling it shallow, or saying that we need therapy. If it was a C cup going to a double D, fine. If I said I wanted a nose job (I dont like my nose LOL) - that would be vanity YES!!! I would NEVER have a nose job cos it isnt deformed... it isnt an abnormal characteristic IMO - so i hav the common sense to distinguish the two.

So to answer ur question

YES I would have plastic surgery

And I WILL be having it in July :-)

I'm doing this for me, going from less than an AAA cup to a B cup :-)

oh, and 2pics - to demonstrate my nose job point.... LOL

Reply:I work for a Plastic Surgeon and I a concur with what Nurse Susan says. There are people who do overuse plastic surgery, but most people have plastic surgery for very real issues. You might be surprised how many women have asymmetrical or malformed breasts, and I have seen many peoples' self esteem improve greatly after getting a nose job.

Is gum recession COSMETIC or medical?

I have a couple teeth with severe gum recession due to over brushing. My insurance only covers necessary medical procedures...not cosmetic. Is there any chance that this is in fact MEDICAL.

Is gum recession COSMETIC or medical?
Gum recession is a medical issue and not a cosmetic one. The gums and bone comprise the socket which holds your tooth in place. If these recede, your teeth become loose, and sensitive. Your insurance shouldn't give you any problems with claiming any necessary procedures performed for your gums as long as you have periodontal coverage.

More importantly, if you have been told by the dentist that you have brushed them away, have you modified your brushing technique?
Reply:Severe gum recession is in fact a condition that makes it medically necessary to have treatment. Failure to do so puts the teeth at a significantly higher risk for loosening and loss which only leads to further health risks. Have your dentist do a preauthorization with your insurance company prior to performing any procedures. If the insurance company denies coverage, have your dentist write a letter to the company that describes your condition (actual measurements and x-ray or photographic evidence helps) and includes a request for coverage for it. This added measure is often all that is required for insurance coverage. More than likely, your request for coverage will NOT be denied.

How do you know if a cosmetic product is water-based or oil-free?

I've read tips that recommended a water-based or oil-free cosmetics for oily skin, but they never show you what ingredients to look for or to avoid in those products....How do you know if a cosmetic product (like blush powder, foundation, etc...)is water-based or oil-free???

How do you know if a cosmetic product is water-based or oil-free?
it will usually say on the package in tiny print, usually if it doesn't say "oil free" or "water-based", then obviously, it is not. Another way to tell if makeup is oil free is if it has an "active ingredient" of salicilic acid (usually about 0.6%). If you really want to be sure...read the ingredients, or just stick with the ones that are actually oil free, like Rimmel cool makeup, Maybelline pure makeup or almay for oily/acne prone skin.
Reply:those are good-selling features, so if they are water-based or oil-free, it will be somewhere on the packaging.
Reply:Water based will say on the label (as the main ingredient) Water or Aqua. If your cosmetics have these on them then they are water based.

Oil based will say on the label, mineral oil, petrolatum (I think that's how you spell it), petroleum or it won't say anything.

FYI nut oils such as almond oil are good for your skin.

Is it considered cosmetic surgery if I get my front teeth properly aligned?

I don't have dental insurance and my front teeth are fairly crooked. Does anyone know if a dentist will consider it cosmetic surgery and charge me an arm and a leg?

Is it considered cosmetic surgery if I get my front teeth properly aligned?
yes it is cosmetic UNLESS it interferes with eating, jaw alignment (TMJ) or another medical issue. Most all insurance companies consider it cosmetic if done for appearance, only.

Can one get cosmetic surgery?

involving cranioplasty? what i mean is can people get it for cosmetic reasons, not for deformities and such?

Can one get cosmetic surgery?
Why not?
Reply:If u got the money the Dr's got the time.
Reply:What exactly are you hoping to achieve with the procedure? It really depends on the circumstances and whether the benefits of such a procedure outweight the risks. HTH : )
Reply:No its not cosmetic procedure Cranioplasty surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

Jewish law on cosmetic surgery?

I was just wondering what Jewish Law is on cosmetic surgery. It is vain, and egotistical.

Jewish law on cosmetic surgery?
Chabad.org says:

"Is cosmetic surgery permissible according to Jewish law?

The issue of cosmetic surgery is discussed by several contemporary poskim (halachic authorities), who address several concerns such a surgery poses.

Though I will be giving you a brief overview of the pertinent issues discussed, the information provided is for academic purposes only. Before making an actual decision in this regard, you must personally speak to your rabbi who will render a decision based on your individual circumstances.

Our bodies are not our personal property which we may treat as we please. Our bodies are on loan to us from G‑d for the duration of our lives, to enable us to fulfill our mission in this world -- a mission which requires having a physical body. (A soul alone cannot don tefillin or light Shabbat candles.) As our bodies are merely on loan, we are not entitled to mutilate them in any way. Thus 'wounding oneself' by undergoing surgery is problematic.

Now, we are commanded by the Torah to heal ourselves, maintain our health, and value our lives. Therefore, surgery which is deemed necessary in the course of the treatment of an illness or injury is allowed -- and actually required. But the question remains: is the prohibition of tampering with our bodies waived for a purely cosmetic concern?

An additional consideration raised by the poskim in regard to purely cosmetic surgery is the fact that every surgery, especially one which requires general anesthesia, presents a certain element of risk and a chance of complications. As aforementioned, we are enjoined to guard our health and avoid unnecessary risks to our wellbeing.

In 1964, a question was posed to several leading poskim regarding a woman who felt that benefiting from plastic surgery would enhance her prospects of finding a suitable husband.

Rabbi Jacob Breisch (author of the Chelkat Yaakov Responsa) maintained that the prohibition of wounding oneself does not apply in a situation where the pain is intended to alleviate another -- more excruciating -- pain. He brought proof from various places in the Talmud that the psychological pain associated with having abnormal features overrides the pain associated with the surgery. He therefore permitted this surgery when done to alleviate psychological distress. A similar explanation was offered by Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, the most recognized posek of the past generation (1895-1986), who explained that the Torah only prohibits self-affliction when done with malice, or in a degrading manner.

Rabbi Breisch also addressed the risks associated with surgery, and ruled that with the advancement of experience and expertise in this area of medicine, the risks involved have been greatly minimized, and therefore undergoing such a surgery cannot be considered a reasonable risk to life.

However, Rabbi Eliezer Waldenberg (1916-2006, author of Tzitz Eliezer responsa) disagreed with these opinions, and ruled unequivocally that cosmetic surgery is forbidden. In his opinion, the Torah statement 'he shall provide for his cure,' from which we learn that one may and must seek medical help, does not apply to ailments that are purely cosmetic.

He also adds a philosophical reasoning. One must believe that G‑d, the greatest artisan of all, formed him or her in the most fitting way, and one must not change this form. Changing one's figure for beauty concerns alone is tantamount to insulting the G‑d's handiwork!

Many authorities have reached some sort of compromise -- ruling that cosmetic surgery is permitted in order to remove an abnormality, if there is a grave psychological need, or to facilitate a happy marriage or decent livelihood; but prohibited if it is being done for beauty or convenience alone.

Another issue raised is the Torah prohibition precluding a man from indulging in feminine activity.2 Some view cosmetic enhancement as such; and therefore consider this another reason to prohibit a man from such a surgery. This, however, would also only apply to a surgery done solely for aesthetic purposes.3

As this is a very subjective issue, in which people can easily delude themselves about the degree of pain and abnormality associated with their looks, it is of utmost importance to personally discuss this with your rabbi for an objective assessment as to the degree of need and convenience, which varies with each case."
Reply:Cosmetic surgery under Jewish traditions can be seen as vain or egotistical. There is no Jewish Law on the matter.

Good Luck!!!
Reply:Well I think in general it is not accepted as a good idea, because your body in on loan from G-d. It would be like getting a tattoo.

If you were to say get breast augmentation just because you wanted to have bigger breasts to please a man then that would be bad in the eyes of G-d. But if you had a horrible car accident and had surgery to correct something and it gave you self confidence and therefor helped you then it would be OK.
