Help!!!im doing a debate on why cosmetic surgery should be insuranced!!?

I am doing a debate in my grade 11 English class on cosmetic surgery. Ive been stuck with the pro insurance on cosmetic surgery, although im very against it. Can someone help me find some good points on this topic because i can't seem to find any! The only point that's semi descent that i can think of is having surgery because of low self esteem issues which will lead to depression which then becomes a medical problem.Another point is prejudice from others and not being able to get a job because of your physical appearance. I need three main points to work with on my debate and on my thesis statement and essay(!) but i have abosolutely NO CLUE on how to make them believable...help me if you can..pls...anyone?...thanx!

Cosmetic surgery to fix scars or damage from injury; such as from fire or broken cartilage/bones in the face.

cosmetic surgery to repair damage inflicted by disease; such as when a woman loses an entire breast to cancer.

You have the third point already, and it is a decent point.

In our society especially where beauty is at a premium and also narrowly defined by the mainstream, having a disfigurement, born with or otherwise, can be debilitating.
Reply:Happy people are probably healthier...hard to prove I guess.

I don't think you got stuck with this side. You can go with the emotional side of things and get everyone to side with you. You could start with the people unhappy with their looks and go on then hit your audience with the people who were disfigured and need "reconstructive surgery" to look like they used to.

I would go with the reconstruction angle at the end as a way to say, "if you didn't agree before you would be heartless to not agree now" or "what if you were in a bad accident that scarred you up?"

If you get people emotional about what could happen to them they'll probably forget that the other points were slightly superficial.

Would an operation that made a person skinnier be considered cosmetic surgery? Gastric bypass surgery makes people lose weight and I think it's covered by insurance plans. Why should people get a second chance at being thin when some people never did a thing wrong to be considered unattractive by society?

Hope this helped.
