Cosmetic Animal Testing??

I am writing a persuasive essay on eliminating cosmetic animal testing, but i dont know what to use as my three main ideas. I was thinking of

1. inhumane

2. alternatives

3. torturing innocent animals...

i dont think these are very good so could anybody help?

im not really looking for facts..

im more looking for ways to persuade the reader to follow this cause.

Cosmetic Animal Testing??
Let's start with number 2.

Will YOU volunteer to be a test subject instead of an animal?

I would much rather have any experimentation done on an animal than on my daughter or granddaughter.
Reply:Actually 1 and 3 are generally speaking the same thing. I would focus on the inhuman aspect and alternatives. You really only need those two. You could break down the two into smaller categories and feature some companies who use alternative means of testing. I know some have "synthetic skin" which is grown in a lab instead of using live animals. There is a lot on this topic to us. Do you need to have three main ideas? How about an intro, an overview of the practices of animal testing, then the alternatives and a closing.

Edit: How about the third being organizations which support alternative animal testing and the publics opinion on testing. An interesting page I found that might help is: http://en.allexperts.com/q/Animal-Rights...

Also wanted to add (in response to the above) that for medication, animal testing may be appropriate and is actually required by the FDA, but for cosmetics there is no need to test on animals. Many of the raw ingredients have already been tested by other companies and cosmetics are not readily absorbing into the body as medications are. The testing that is done on animals for cosmetics is overboard and often more inhuman and unethical than what is done for medical testing. A normal human being would never use a product the way the cosmetic companies test on animals. I have have worked in both these industries (pharmaceutical and cosmetics) and can tell you from first hand knowledge that much of hte cosmetic animal testing in not only unnecessary but also more extreme than need be.
Reply:how about we use people testing ?
