If cosmetic surgery was free would you have it?

if cosmetic surgery was free would you have it done and what would you have done?





would it put you off if you had to watch it being done to someone elce and you had to be in the actual theatre before you could have it done

If cosmetic surgery was free would you have it?
If I knew that the Dr performing the surgery was a professional and was trully qualified, I would have no problem having surgery to correct/improve certain body parts.





If the surgery involved having someone watching me having surgery I would have no problem. And I have no problem looking at other people having surgery done on them.





About 10 yrs ago there was a program on The Learning Channel called "The Operation". It showed a complete surgery from beginning to end in all it's glory gore. I always found it fascinating rather than disgusting, however, my family members nearly passed away choking every time the show was on.

Reply:Even if it was free I wouldn't have it.....Nobody does things without a cause.....If we have some reason we can undergo surgeries but without any reason why would anybody undergo treatments....even if it is free.....

i do however understand why people receive this treatment e.g. if they have any scars or disabilities. under these circumstances i believe this is acceptable.





i know people who have received boob and nose jobs but they looked ok before they went for surgery and personally i don't see this as a necessity.





to me you are who you are and its the type of person you are that is important rather than your nose or something.

these I would change with cosmetic surgery (laser surgery)


as for invasive surgeries though... I would elect to not have them.
Reply:Having recently lost 40Kg I would love it if the cosmetic surgery was free, it looks like it is going to cost me around £2500 to have a mini tummy tuck to get rid of my bit of excess skin, sounds shallow I know but after putting in the effort to get thin, it seems a shame not to have it looking good...

Beats the heck out of checking references.





I'd have my nose fixed (which isn't entirely cosmetic in my case).
Reply:If you have such bad mental health problems that you want to mutilate your body and have unnecessary anesthetic, then yes I suppose you would.
Reply:Hell yes! After two kids and losing 3 stone in weight. It would be nice to feel like a person again It does matter how many times you go to the gym you if its gone south...Its gone south. lol

Considering all you've been through in your life, you look years younger than your age.





At 61, rising 62, for some reason folks think I'm in my late forties... yet I see rising 62 in my mirror... and I'm quite content.





Beauty... if beauty it is, comes from within... not on the surface, and I've never really had a hangup about looks.





I was offered it after a serious car crash when US Airman shot across my path in an American car. He cut across a main road, as I was doing 65mph back in 1973. I was on my final driving lesson before my test. they offered PS and I refused it.





Because, the scars on my forehead and chin, reminded me of God's intervention and the gift of giving back my life, directly after I called out to him in public at the scene, for the first time in my life I owned Him publicly. Those scars are still with me, smaller, more faded, but for some strange reason, few people ever seemed to notice them.





In much the same way, they seldom notice my twisted arthritic fingers, and when I ask they tell me, "You're so cheerful and friendly... you just don't see them, you see only you."





It's all about your attitude to life, and for me personally, it's about my faith... God provides every time I ask... He's saved my life so many times, from under the wheels of a Tarmac lorry aged eight... and through serious complicated illnesses and birthings that went wrong... far too many times to count, He's kept me safe, and people strangely think I'm much younger all the time, because I believe, they see His love shining through me... and not adornments... which is just as well, because I can't wear rings, even though I love them, since too many had to be cut off my hands due to sudden swelling of a joint.





They said I'd be in a wheelchair by the age of 50... since arthritis started when I was twenty-three... they said it to me way back in 1987... well I'm not, because, I refuse to BE my arthritis, or my scars... I'm me... and I'm staying on my feet as long as God allows:-)





Don't be a copy of another, don't be vain and try to hold back time, since the more you do, the more age happens in your mind... and it's all about your mind and attitude to life... youth, is in us all until the very end... the person you once were as a child, a teen, a twenties and a thirties, is still you... so go on, ignore the youth merchants who only make capital on your fears of ageing... and wear your wrinkles and your scars and your grey, with pride, you've earned them all... I darn well know I have;-)





And the world will only see your youth and marvel at the way you keep on coming back;-)





PS... I went on to pass my test and am in my 34th year of clean driving... not one point (UK) or fine, or claim against my insurance, in all that time;-)

There are some people who through genetics or accident may really require corrective surgery. I wish them and their surgeons well in their efforts.





People who have elective surgery done to support some whim or to seek a beauty which is not really theirs are a different matter. These tend toward vanity, arrogance, self deception and worse. High prices does not seem to be a deterrent. I doubt that making them watch a procedure would have much of an effect either.





Cosmetic surgery as an elective is being sold in much the same way as applied cosmetics were in the past. Some people buy into the concept and some do not.
Reply:Cosmetic surgery can also be an option following severe accidents/burns/beatings; it can be an option after losing a large amount of weight; it can be an option for birth defects/other congenital anomalies. It's not always a 'nose job'.





SO- if nothing happens to me (accident/obesity and subsequent weight loss) I'm quite content with myself the way I am. Some folks have a condition that becomes more pronounced with age where their eyelids gradually obscure their vision. Cosmetic surgery is the 'fix' for that; I mention this specifically because my mom seems to have it. Therefore, under certain circumstances, I would have it whether it were free or not!





Having said that, I think I'd have it done whether or not I had to be in the operating room (theatre) helping/watching someone else's surgery. Yes, I've heard it's 'nasty' but in the event that I would actually choose to have it, I would need it, so would go ahead with it (and, yes, I'd probably be out cold on the floor most of the time)!





In general, I would not have it, but can't say, "No, never" because things happen that change how you feel about certain things...
Reply:right now, i would not have cosmetic surgery, but if i had third degree burns all over my face from a fire, or i was in a horrible car accident where i lost my nose and eye and ear, and other horrifying accidents that could happen to me or any one, i would have cosmetic surgery.
